Police Raid 6 Warehouses, Seize 46 Million Worth of Illegal Cosmetics and Chinese Food

The raids, conducted by the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), resulted in the seizure of nearly 477,000 items worth over 46 million baht. The illicit goods were being sold through multiple online shops, with some operations generating thousands of orders daily. The raids targeted six locations across Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Pathum Thani. Details of the Six Raided Locations: 1. Warehouse in Phra Samut Chedi, Samut Prakan • Seized: 269,580 items, including toothpaste, various cosmetic brands, and hazardous substances. • Estimated value: 40 million baht. • Operated over 10 online stores. 2. Warehouse in Sai Mai, Bangkok • Seized: 44,076 items, including cosmetics, hazardous substances, medical devices, and herbal products. • Estimated value: 2 million baht. • Sold 1,800–2,000 orders per day via 10 online stores. • In operation for five years. 3. Residential storage facility in Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani • Seized: 14,805 items, including lotions and hair care products. • Estimated value: 200,000 baht. • Operated four online stores for two years. 4. Residential storage facility in Khlong Sam Wa, Bangkok • Seized: 116,900 items, including instant hotpot ingredients such as tofu skins, mala soup cubes, and flavoured noodles. • Estimated value: 1.5 million baht. • Operated five online stores, generating 30,000 baht in daily sales for six months. 5. Warehouse in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan • Seized: 5,179 items, including skincare products and shampoos with non-Thai labels. • Estimated value: 500,000 baht. 6. Storage facility in Ratchathewi, Bangkok • Seized: 22,825 items, including gummy candies, stuffed jujube fruits, and dried fruit snacks. • Estimated value: 2 million baht. • Operated two online stores, generating 50,000 baht in daily sales for two years. Authorities found that most seized products had been imported from China. Many items lacked Thai-language labels, while some displayed labels translated using automated software, raising concerns over inaccurate or misleading information. Picture from responders A truck transporting over 100 pigs rolled over as it plunged into an irrigation canal in Don Chedi district, leaving nearly 100 pigs drowned in a scene that left locals distressed. The crash occurred at 07:00 on 5 March, on the Makham Thao–U Thong irrigation canal road, Moo 1, Nong Sarai subdistrict, Don Chedi district, Suphan Buri province. Rescue teams from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation rushed to the scene to assist in the rescue efforts. Upon arrival, responders found the truck overturned on its side, partially submerged in the canal. The pigs were desperately struggling to escape, with their frantic squeals filling the air. Local residents and rescue workers worked for over two hours to save as many pigs as possible. Despite their best efforts, only 30 pigs survived, while the rest drowned. Witnesses described the scene as heartbreaking, as the pigs’ cries grew weaker before they succumbed to the water. The truck’s driver, Mr Komsan 38, told police that he was transporting 140 pigs from a farm in Chai Nat province to a slaughterhouse in Ratchaburi when the crash happened. “I was driving normally when I bent down to pick up something. That’s when the truck veered off course,” he admitted. He attempted to steer back onto the road, but he lost control of the truck and it overturned into the canal. Fortunately, Mr Komsan escaped unscathed, as the water level in the canal was only about half full. Authorities are investigating the incident. -- 2025-03-06 -

Credit card fraud - Friendship grocery store
Your card details were likely read by someone with a card reader that can scan the RFID info from your card and generate a new one. There are RFID blocking sleeves for your card that prevent this. Or multiple cards stored together apparently blocks it too. As it's a credit card, and not an ATM, you are protected from fraud so it's really not an issue. Do as someone else suggested and set up notifications for each transaction. I use foreign credit cards as much as I can because it's the cheapest way to access money in that country. -
