Phang Nga – A tour boat with 42 tourists from Phuket became stuck on a sandbank in Phang Nga.

The head of the Ao Phang Nga National Park, Mr. Nattawat Nuisringam, told the Phuket Express that earlier this week they helped a tour boat that became stuck on a sandbank between Takeng Hill and Nom Sao Hill when it was low tide.

The boat was traveling from Phuket with 42 foreign tourists. They were traveling to the Hat Nopparat Thara – Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park in Krabi and Ao Phang Nga National Park.

Nice work Captain...

"stuck........when it was low tide."

I do hope that nobody says anything stupid like:

"So the best thing to do was get out onto the sandbank, without life jackets, and hope that the rescue boats arrived before the tide rose again?"

Because obviously they would take the duration of slackwater and likelihood of adverse weather conditions into account.........wouldn't they?

I can see from the photo that boat has 3 engines, I think they are licensed for about 55 passengers,

due to the sulphurous reputation of pha nga, one can wonder if the tour boat captain was sober

They're probably so high they could walk across water.

They have to be careful, there are also snakes in the Pang Nga bay, I speak from experience.
