A 33 year old music teacher in Pattaya, Thailand, has been hospitalised with serious injuries after being involved in a car accident with a pickup truck. Chakkrit Juthawipat was driving his BMW sedan along Sukhumvit Road towards Sattahip when the incident occurred around 5.30am yesterday.

According to witnesses, Chakkrit was exiting an alley onto the main road when his BMW and Sompan Thongchan’s pickup truck collided, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The force of the impact left Chakkrit’s car severely crumpled in the middle.

Sawang Boriboon rescue workers promptly arrived at the scene to offer assistance. They quickly transported Chakkrit to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he remains in serious condition.

Meanwhile, the pickup truck’s driver, Sompan Thongchan 55 years old, escaped the ordeal unscathed. He provided an interview with local media, explaining that Chakkrit’s car had suddenly emerged from the alley, leaving him with insufficient time to hit the brakes and avoid the collision.

That may have been his intention but he apparently wasn't.  Wonder why the story is written that way.  BMW trumps Pickup I suppose.

BMW pulls out into the path of an oncoming pickup.

Should have perhaps looked before pulling out into the larger road and this could have been easily avoided.

Quite, he obviously didn't quite get that far. I pull out of a restaurant onto Sukhumvit quite often and it can be difficult....the area North of Banglamung Police Station, the traffic can be moving very fast.

'the incident occurred around 5.30am yesterday.'  How much traffic can there be at that time in the morning?  Where had the music teacher been till that time?  I am sure the police will look into it.

"How much traffic can there be at that time in the morning?"

There only needs to be one other vehicle, the amount of traffic on the road is as irrelevant as  where he had been at that time.

I drive around Thailand alot and it amazes me how people in merging lanes have no idea that they're supposed to give way to vehicles on main roads, especially major highways such as 304 when driving to Korat.
