snoop1130
PHOTO: PRPATTAYA Pattaya deputy mayor Manoch Nongyai inspected Thepprasit Road following two recent accidents which claimed the lives of two Thai drivers. One of the accidents happened last Monday when a motorcyclist tried to navigate his motorbike around a road construction detour on Threpprasit Road and fatally crashed into a Chinese tour bus. The man died on the spot. Yesterday, May 2nd, Manoch and a team of officials from the Pattaya Office of Technicians visited the road. He said the road was partially blocked with construction blockage to allow roadwork, which was the reason the route was prone to accidents. Popular Post Phoenix Rising
The reason this happens is that the concept of safety is not exactly top of anyone's list in Thailand and that these types of projects drag on forever. I live off Thepprasit road and I'm completely fed up with the roadworks which having gone on for two ******g years. For **** sake - get it done!!! 6 2

Popular Post Woof999
The sharp elevation change, on a motorbike, is bad enough during the day. At night it's unbelievable dangerous. Whoever decided that needing to cross onto the tarmac'd side of the road which is a good 6 inches or so above the concrete section, with the joint running parallel to your direction of travel, is a safety genius.

Popular Post jacko45k
Did he know where it was or did he use Google maps? He needs to do a tour of all the incomplete road works around the City. The problem is construction companies, who usually have friends in high places and can arrive at incomplete road projects in a nice new vehicle. 3
supersomchai
Its election time and these dimwits are they pretending they care. proper barriers and lighting around roadworks at night would be a BASIC minimum starter, but how often do you see that in thailand ??

AustinRacing
What a swell guy. A future mayor. Paying a visit to a construction zone and making comments about it. He needs a vacation, another medal on his chest.
RobU
Similar lack of safety precautions occurred in Phon Phisai, Nong Khai district. The numpties removed 2 sets of traffic lights for months whilst the 212 was being 'improved' and didn't even change the road markings to show which road had priority or indicate that the junctions even existed. So anyone driving along the 212 could easily have had a serious accident at the crossroad because the were not aware and didn't reduce speed.

Guderian
He's probably wondering why only a few million of the billions of Baht spent on this project have flowed into his bank account, and making sure the contractors fix that problem. The conversation roughly translated: Deputy Mayor: So you say that on this side of the road the work is now finished? Contractor: Chai, krup! Deputy Mayor: Well that's no good, I need more sugar, so tear it all up and start again. Contractor: Chai, krup!
rwill
So the road is prone to accidents not the drivers. Do they teach driving safely according to the conditions?

ezzra
The deputy mayor should have been posing for a photo-opp, hey look at me, I'm here for you like, he should be doing his job which clearly, he doesn't.
Seppius
Use the road about once a week, but hardly ever see anyone working on it, does work happen overnight? If they threw a decent amount of bodies at it (live ones) the job would get done. The corner at the lights with Phappraya has been dug up for months!! volsfan
Now they are installing a permanent barrier down the center, so no turn into the market or condos there. Result is massive numbers of vehicles u-turning at the first open spot which just makes traffic worse.
likerdup1
I see he's found an excellent way to evaluation the "dangers" on Thepprasit. Stand in the middle of the road with other "officials" and look at papers instead of traffic. TIT 1
