Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Krea-ngam has advised the Move Forward party to use “diplomatic means” to woo support, especially among senators, for approval for its leader Pita Limjaroenrat to become prime minister, instead of resorting to harsh criticism or condemnation.

Speaking to the media on Thursday morning, the government’s top legal expert said that that the potential coalition line up, led by Move Forward, which now has about 313 votes in the Lower House, can become a very solid government, but they still need the support of senators for the appointment of its prime ministerial candidate and, again, for constitutional amendments.

He reiterated his earlier advice that sweet talking and extending an olive branch will overcome all the obstacles, saying there is no need to rush as they have about three months, 60 days for the endorsement of all the MPs-elect and another 30 days for the formation of the government.

That means that they will have to make ( big ) concessions in their intentions of political change until a point the ruling elite in Thailand can accept , is reached .

That would mean treason to the people who voted for them , but is probably the only way to avoid open conflict .

'diplomatic means', 'sweet talking' and 'olive branch'.......all sound like euphemisms for something, I wonder what?

It's good advice and Pita should listen, the way he is going he will deny his supporters their wish to see his party in power, after all is'nt that what they want?

wow... Such cynical comments. I've learned over the years that 'demanding' and pushing just gets push back.  If you try to force feed the Senate, the members will just bow up.  The Deputy PM gave good advice and I'm quite sure that the Move Forward leaders already know this.  He only commented to 'reassure' them to continue their pursuits in that direction (and of course to stay relevant).
