Texas schoolchildren as young as four years old are being given Winnie-the-Pooh cartoon books, teaching them to “run, hide, fight” if a gunman enters their building.

Parents and teachers in the Dallas area have expressed alarm and concern that the Stay Safe book, produced by a law enforcement consulting firm in Houston, has been sent home in the backpacks of children in pre-kindergarten and elementary classes.

The book features the honey-loving bear created by AA Milne and illustrator EH Shepard instructing kids about how to react to a mass shooting.

On one level, someone in the system is trying to do something.

On another (altogether higher) level, what an indictment of a societies leaders they do this, yet do nothing to remove the weapons which are causing the carnage.

Still, as someone pointed out there will be no school shootings for a couple of months, it is the school summer holidays!

Screw that, we need a good bear with a gun.

Serpentine Piglet, serpentine.

We were instructed to get under our desks at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, so you can see we haven't made much progress on realistic survival techniques in ~ 60 years.

I reckon most kids would just "pooh" themselves in those circumstances.

What a tepid response to school shootings shameful vote people vote the cowards out that refuse to get this issue under control they also might consider training the cops so they don’t repeat the Uvalde debacle just beggers belief

I guess a book is easier than taking on the gun nuts.

Along with the book whats needed is:

Banning of AR-15 style firearms, ban of high-capacity magazines, establishing universal background checks, national red flag laws and firearm storage requirements.

That's just the start.

Of course not sure about that book in Florida, its a Disney character, DeSantis may ban it........................

Arm and train all school staff.

Maybe train first, then arm?

But yeah, this is an idea we've heard before.

Nobody will give the lunch lady any grief, cuz she's packin'

And maybe don't arm the janitor. He's a little bit loopy.

Why not just arm all the children?

The book will soon be banned in Florida and Texas.

Guns OTOH will NOT be banned,

Guns are designed primarily to kill and injure while books are there to learn from and to entertain.

I have no idea what use politicians are.

I wouldn't arm the kids.

Disney actually owns the copyrights and trademarks for the Winnie-the-Pooh with the exception of the original books.
