Some friends say it has been quiet. Others say it is fairly busy. Any opinions?

The red-light areas are quiet, other parts of town are reasonably busy. There are more Chinese and Indian evident and English speaking visitors from SE Asia so Singapore and Malaysia presumably.

Weekend events bring the locals in - a fruit fair last weekend, a marathon upcoming.

The flag following Chinese tour groups are not back and they are a big miss for many Thai businesses such as boat hire, beach businesses of various types and F&B companies big and small.

There are some big construction projects ongoing in expectation of bigger numbers coming in future years.

Good synopsis. The locals don't really count, since we are trying to measure tourism.

Sorry, I meant local tourists down from Bangkok for the weekend. They are less in number because the Government scheme to subsidise hotel costs has finished.
