Residents of Pibulwattana Alley in Phaya Thai district are pleading with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to fix a broken sidewalk for the sake of road safety. Despite filing complaints for the past 3-4 years, no action has been taken to address the issue.

On June 2nd, according to a report by a news outlet, the public and residents of the Pibulwattana Alley in Phaya Thai district expressed their frustration to "Daily News" regarding the inconvenience and danger they face while using the sidewalk located near the underpass on Phra Ram 6 Road, reported Daily News.

The sidewalk is severely damaged, with wide cracks and sections of broken pavement. Furthermore, some parts of the sidewalk are occupied by parked cars, making it impossible for pedestrians to use the designated pathway.

This situation poses a serious risk to pedestrians, who must exercise extreme caution when traversing the area to avoid potential accidents.

Adding to their dismay, despite filing complaints with the Phaya Thai district office for approximately 3-4 years, the issue remains unresolved.

The only response they received was a notification stating that the matter is "under process" and that the particular area falls outside the responsibility of the office, which is currently determining whose jurisdiction it falls under.

Consequently, they are appealing to Chadchart Sittipunt, the governor of Bangkok, and relevant authorities to take immediate and permanent action to alleviate the grievances faced by the affected residents.

The news report also reached out to the governor for a comment, and he acknowledged being aware of the situation.

He assured that he is expediting the process for the Phaya Thai district office and related agencies to investigate which department is responsible for the area. Once identified, prompt measures will be taken to resolve the issue and provide relief to the frustrated residents.

In conclusion, the residents of Pibulwattana Alley in Phaya Thai district are enduring a prolonged struggle with a deteriorated sidewalk, posing safety risks for pedestrians.

Their pleas for a resolution have gone unanswered for years. It is now up to the governor of Bangkok and the relevant authorities to intervene and address the problem promptly, ensuring the well-being and safety of the affected residents.

Of course the residents could have hired a company to have fixed the pavement at their own expense. Perhaps some of the vehicles belong to the residents themselves.

Build up the kerb to perhaps 30 cm high, remove the vehicles or block them in, lay new, thicker paving slabs. Do the job yourselves and save the BMA the cost.

Then it will be rebuilt the way that the residents want and then perhaps they will stop whining.
