On June 9th, 2023, Buriram Immigration Police, led by Superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Pisut Suanpapasit, coordinated with the 4th Region Immigration Bureau, Phuthaisong Police Station, and the 2nd Provincial Police Region to apprehend Mr. Tunuj, a 25-year-old Indian national. Mr. Tunuj was detained for overstaying by 199 days, as he was discovered to have entered and resided in the kingdom without proper authorization.

According to the interrogations, the apprehended individual stated that he had entered Thailand as a tourist with a travel visa last year and had chosen not to return when the visa expired, reported Siam Rath.

Instead, he traveled to various provinces as a tourist without formally applying to stay within the kingdom. Eventually, he was discovered and apprehended by authorities. Pending further investigation, the individual has been placed under custody at Phutthaisong Police Station.

This action is in line with the policies set by Lieutenant General Phakphum Phupiphat, Commissioner of the Border Patrol Police, and Lieutenant Colonel Phan Thana Nuchnanat, Deputy Commissioner of the Border Patrol Police, to intensify efforts to combat crimes, particularly offenses related to foreigners overstaying their authorized period of stay.

From June 7th to 21st, 2023, a crackdown campaign will be carried out, and the public will be informed that foreign individuals wishing to remain in the kingdom must submit the appropriate paperwork to the local Immigration Bureau where they have notified their place of residence.

Failure to comply may result in legal consequences under the Immigration Act of 2522 B.E. and may lead to arrest, prosecution, and placement on the blacklist, prohibiting entry into the country.
