Phuket – A local taxi driver allegedly attacked and jumped onto a mobile application taxi car with a foreign passenger inside in the Thalang district.

Ms. Ben, last name withheld, 35, a female taxi driver, filed a report to the Cherng Talay Police on Sunday (June 11th). She told police that she picked up a foreign passenger from the Bolt application in front of a restaurant in Bang Tao.

The Phuket Express notes that the Bolt application has been certified by the Phuket Land Transport Office.

Suddenly, a male taxi driver rushed at her vehicle, physically hit her taxi, and jumped onto the front of her vehicle.

Who is heading up this 'mafia'? Knowing Thailand and Phuket in particular, it could be the cops themselves?

You are pretty much on the mark with this comment, and the reason no clampdown comes is because the authorities and the taxidrivers and their "union" are integrated with regards to money and fees. It is all controlled and the only way to break it would be to clear out the local BIB as well as the tuk tuk and taxidriver consortiums and start again.........but there is money involved so that's not likely to happen.

Corruption rules here, we shouldn't forget that.

But........they're Buddhists, are'nt they??? ????

But if any religion is serious it's breaking various tenants to rip people off.

BOLT is the same as Grab, operates on a downloadable app., except BOLT is marginally cheaper than Grab and BOLT app. is easier to use.

In Chiang Mai and Bkk BOLT app. users can select from 3 options on the app.

- a car with usual taxi signage (but more expensive)

- an ECONO car, late model car in good condition and very clear, no taxi markings (about 10 to 15% cheaper than option 1 (full taxi signage), or

- M/cycle taxi, good rates.

I guess Phuket is the same.

With BOLT passenger can add further pick up location etc., details in English, SUBMIT and the app. automatically translates to Thai and sends to driver. Same in reverese if driver sends note to waiting passenger. Works very well.

With BOLT have to pay in cash, QR code payments coming.

!quality unsolicited mansplain!!!!
