whitethai
After arriving at airport where do you go to get to Bangkok? I think I want to be in Soi Rambuttri I really dont like looking for hotel apartment on the day I get there. I like to try and get pre booked accommodation. Still waiting for four apartment landlords to reply to email questions after four days. Whats the cheapest travel? Whats the trains cost?
mmushr00m
The cheapest way to get around BKK is the Little Green Buses 7baht a ride. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride, as good as any roller coaster and with a REAL element of danger

bangsue
a taxi will be about 350 max on the meter with the 50surcharge and tolls. an easy way is to get the Airport Express bus (AE2) for 150baht which will drop you at the end of Khao San Road and Soi Rambuttri is 2 minutes walk from there. I like to try and get pre booked accommodation. Still waiting for four apartment landlords to reply to email questions after four days. The chances of them replying is quite slim, you shouldn't have any problem finding accomodation around this time. A taxi is the way to go! On the meter it shouldnt cost much, plus the benefit of air-con which is a must when travelling in bangkok

Woul dit be expensive to travel there daily if it is some distance? you can get the boat from bang kapi/ramkhamheang to pratunam costs about 16 baht and takes about 35 minutes. dont know how to get to ksr from pratunam, dont know where ksr is, never been. there are many thai style apts for rent in the ram area for 3500 to 4000 baht per month
mmushr00m
at Pratunam, change to another klong boat to continue, get off at democracy monument (forgot name of the stop). Cross the road and you're at KSR...BUT the klong boats stop running after 8pm. Ramkhamheang is quite far from KSR. If you bus it, it'll take at least an hour, more with traffic +2hrs check mrroomfinder

easybullet3
How far is Ramkhamhaeng, Bangkapi from Khao San Road and Soi Rambuttri ??Woul dit be expensive to travel there daily if it is some distance? hi. bangkrapi and ramkhamhaeng are FAR FAR away from the ko-san road/rambutri area of bangkok!! on a budget of 700-750 quid a year (for accomodation). that equates to about 48,000 - 51,000 baht. thats about 4,000 baht a month. ok.. so,, going on what you said,,, 4000 baht a month for accomodation is possible,, to tell u the truth, on top of your monthly rent you are also liable for electric and water bills. (maybe a further 700 - 1500 baht a month, (depending on how much electric you use and the price per unit charged by the appartrment for electricity). some places will include electric as part of the total rent cost. around the ko-san area you can get places as low as 3000 a month and up to as much as 15000 baht. (saying that,, theres only really 1 or 2 places that charge over 7000. - the rest are cheaper. usually you need to give a 3 month deposit. i remember a friend stayed at a place at the corner of Soi 1, Samsen Road, (above an internet cafe on the corner). - its a few mins walk from ramburti and ko-san. the 5000/month rent she paid covered the bills (i think). other than that, in the area you want I cant help anymore. I live in the centre near the large shopping centres and department stores etc... another choice is Pinklao. pinklao is just over the bridge from ko-san area. a MAJOR drawback is the heavy traffic,,,, (a short distance can take forever in rush-hour). also the taxi fees can end up costing a few thousand baht a month, (thus doubling your rent). if you stick to busses and dont mind traffic, then pinklao is a good choice. a popular area is around Soi Langnam, (near to victory monument). this is much further from kosan, but its more central bangkok,, so you would be near to large shopping centres and modern department stores etc and have far more at your desposal for things to do every day. around soi langnam you can get rooms for around 4000 quite easily,, (but you need to add electric and water etc). to get to kosan you can get a bus or taxi or boat. (boat on the canal is 10 baht. - 14pence) taxi would be around 60 baht. all in all you can proibably find (quite easily) a room around the ko-san area for your price-range. i cant guarantee the clenliness of the room. (depends what standards you are used to and what you are willing to accept).. if you want my advice, if you move into a room with a wood-box under the mattress, then remove it from the room and put it outside. (coz its a possibility it may be a home for local bed-bugs!! (if you arent so worried about that stuff, so be it),, if thats kind of stuff is HIGH on your list, then you can go further and buy plastic sheeting from HOME PRO (DIY shop) or any hardware shop etc,, you can wrap up your mattress too... keep your room clean and remove any OLD furniture etc,, as it makes good homes for bed bugs. ah,,, if you check around Samsen road... soi 1 and soi 2 and soi 4 you can find many places to stay I think. I cant help you with names of places as i dont stay in this part of bangkok. either way goodluck!!!!!!!!
asanee
How far is Ramkhamhaeng, Bangkapi from Khao San Road and Soi Rambuttri ??Woul dit be expensive to travel there daily if it is some distance? dont you really have no clue or a map at hand with such speciific wants? Rambu has NO apartmts that I know of for rent, short or long time, but has 100s of cheap guesthse rooms, prices from 150 till over 1000 THB, depend on size/comfort/season. By BUS from NEAR KSR=the lottery office to BigC Ram with the 60, 512 or 172 to Ram is 7 (red), or 6,3 on a coupon book or 14/16 bt(aircon), time varesi from 35 (early sun morning) till over 90 mins (plus another 40 min wait till a bus finally came, this is BKK+traffic woes). the boats: that water STINKS big way and even seems to burn through your clothes. However for LONGER time rentals you cannot beat RKHaeng, a very lively and cheap uni-area. and please lve that gitar back home, in fact most guesthss around KSR wont even take you as they see it, too many complaints in the past, and no, they do not really need your additonal custom, there are plenty others
