New Partygate video ‘shows Tories dancing, drinking and laughing at lockdown rules’

 

 

A Partygate video appearing to show Tory staff drinking, dancing and joking about “bending” Covid lockdown rules has emerged, piling further pressure on the party just days after Boris Johnson was found to have lied about rules being followed.

The video, said to have been taken on 14 December, 2020, when socialising inside was banned in parts of the UK, shows for the first time, staff joking about their Christmas party at the Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) in London breaking the rules, according to The Mirror.

 

The party was organised by the campaign team behind Shaun Bailey’s ultimately failed bid to become mayor of London and “formal disciplinary action” was taken against four staff members over the “unauthorised” event.

 

The party itself had been previously documented when photos first emerged last year, and police dismissed an investigation citing a lack of evidence at the time, but the video has added further evidence of the scale of the celebrations within the Conservative party.

Of course they were.   By December 2020 everyone knew the demographic that were at actual risk from the virus, they knew lockdowns were just pointless theatre to make it look like the government was doing "something" and for their sanity they chose to ignore the stupid lockdown rules just like every other rational minded person.   

 

The anger should be directed at those who actually forced the governments hand in inflicting these insane policies on the populous in the first place:

1. The SAGE scientists.

2. The Tory party numbskulls who ignored conflicting evidence from other scientists (e.g Great Barrington report)

3. The Labour party who only wanted harder, longer lockdowns

4. The media whose propaganda led to scaring the population into believing that curfews and lockdowns were "saving lives".  

 

The only thing for those people in the video to be embarrassed about is the standard of dancing which was awful, but young people having fun at Christmas time should not be something to get angry about in comparison to the harm that was inflicted on the country with pointless lockdowns.

Ultimately, it must be the politicians who are held responsible. They are the officials elected by the people to govern and must be responsible to the people.

The video is problematic digit a number of reasons.

 

Firstly the party is clearly in breach of the law, and yes I know the sulkers amongst us don’t like the law, but we none of us get to choose which laws are applicable to us, but not applicable to others.

 

The evidence of members and staff of the governing political party doing that is of obvious public concern.

 

Secondly the people at the party can be heard discussing the fact they know they are breaking the lockdown, no ignorance here, they are acting in flagrant disregard, obviously something of public concern.

 

But it goes on.

 

This Party is not at Downing Street, it’s at Conservative Party HQ, clearly a disregard for the laws and rules applied to the public are are not considered to apply to the Governing Tory Party, this is of obvious public concern, especially to those that vote.

 

Two people caught in this party video are among the already widely criticized ’Johnson Honors List’. Honors being handed out to people personally caught in flagrant breach of the lockdown is is of obvious public concern.

The video was reviewed by Metropolitan Police who took no action, this needs explanation beyond the already confirmed evidence of corruption in the Met., this is of obvious public concern.

 

The message is clear, the Governing Party are making rules for everyone else that they themselves do not follow.

 

Roll on the Bye-Elections so we can get a taste of what the General Election has in store.

None of the people featured in that video have rule making powers.   They are no different to any other person (such as myself) who "flagrantly" breached lockdown rules on a regular basis as they knew how pointless they were.   

 

The punishment for lockdown breaches was the same as a parking ticket anyway so hardly anything to get worked up about but if you slavishly followed all the rules I can imagine how it would be infuriating.   Still, next time you will know better than conform to such nonsense and engage in a bit of rule breaking yourself.   This way you won't get so annoyed when you see that other people were enjoying themselves whilst you abstained.

I think the release of this video is no coincidence.  Clearly the timing has been orchestrated to highlight the breach of rules and total disregard the then government (or some of them) had for their own lockdown laws.  More bad news for those still trying desperately, against all the odds, trying to stand by their fallen hero Boris Johnson.

 

Interesting to note some of his former chums now choosing to abstain with their vote in the house today.  More cowardly actions from the spineless bottom feeders.  I don't know if Sunak is going to be in the house for the vote or "doing a Johnson" and hiding in a fridge somewhere.  Time will tell.

 

The interview with Gove on Sunday says it all really.  He admitted that the report was correct and that Johnson had lied repeatedly to the house and the people but would be abstaining anyway because he felt the 90 days suspension wasn't "fair".  What a sniveling rat that man is.  Johnson had already done a runner to avoid the suspension!

That is whataboutery.   They were not videoed visiting dying loved ones or attending funerals as they would have been prevented from doing so by the covid jobsworths, so they did not break those specific rules.   They were just enjoying themselves having a drink together in private, as 100% of the UK population with a modicum of common sense also did during lockdowns.

The Conservative party suffers fools too readily and this debacle may lead to the shrinking of the party in future elections.

The only saving factor is that there's no other party fit to replace them. Labor might win the next election but it is hard to see them leading the UK for more than one term.

Personally, I would like to see any party willing to save the NHS get success at the polls.

There were very, very few people making those laws as they were never put to a vote in parliament and democracy was effectively thrown out of the window during covid.   It is a shame those people in that video were not responsible for making the laws as they clearly recognised how little danger they and other healthy folks faced from the virus so would not have inflicted the stupid, damaging rules on the rest of the population.

Thats an old article from Oct 21 so is irrelevant.   Those of us who stated lockdowns would do more harm than good have long been proven correct with Sweden showing the lowest excess deaths in comparison to lockdown countries.

Two things. The first 18 months after covid started and until we got sufficient numbers of vaccinated people was exactly when the lockdown and no partying regulations were most relevant and most important. Unarguably far more important than now.

 

Secondly, your right wing talking point misinformation about Sweden's doing better than nearby countries despite having no lockdown is very misleading. The elderly had a worse outcome than Norway. The whole point of the lockdowns pre vaccine awas to protect the vulnerable. Unfortunately the narcissists believe that demographic was dispensable. We keep hearing about how the elderly should take care of themselves instead of everybody making miniscule sacrifices and doing the right thing.

Also, contrary to claims by some posters here, there were very substantial number of people dying from COVID around the world during 2020 who weren't in the oldest 80+ age group.

 

Yes, the 80+ group was the largest single group, but lesser but still large numbers of people in their 50s, 60s and 70s also were dying from COVID during the 2020 period referenced here.... not just the very oldest folks as has been claimed.

Although the above graphic appears to show COVID deaths in the 40-49 age group as relatively small, the actual death numbers in the chart for that age group for 2020 were 41,057 men and 20,201 women. The age 50s, 60s, and 70s COVID death counts as shown are even larger, and people in those age groups absolutely were at risk at the time, as the chart shows.

The real lesson here should be.... government officials AND the general public should take seriously public health measures that helped prevent deaths and kept more people from being hospitalized from COVID.

 

The UK government officials who enacted the correct-for-the-time and recommended COVID public health measures as laws or policies -- and then proceeded to ignore them in their own lives -- should get all the scorn and derision they deserve.
