Meanwhile while petty politics is being played out by both sides of the American spectrum Rome burns. Won't be long before the greenback loses reserve currency status and China becomes the world's largest economy.

It will be long.

China’s economy has a bunch of problems, not least the property bubble and a demographic time bomb.

Sod all to do with this cluster though.

Do you think Biden might have told Blinken about what he was going to say at the fundraiser before Blinken wasted his time going to China?

First appeasement, then insult, Biden is a dangerous fool.

Do you think Blinken may have told Biden what Xi had said at the meeting before Bidens comment at the fundraiser?

US President Joe Biden has called Chinese President Xi Jinping a dictator at a fundraiser in California.

He prefers to be called Emperor Xi (for life)!

1. He is simply stating the truth. Perhaps not the best timing for it. But, Xi is a dangerous dictator.

2. I doubt the Yuan will even become the reserve currency. The Chinese economy is in big trouble. The least of which is the economic bubble created by real estate, and the ghost cities. Nobody knows how many abandoned buildings and projects there are. We could be talking about many, many trillions of dollars in debt.

China will inject whatever it takes to prop up the real estate sector. The US is stock market driven but most other countries are real estate driven. China has a lot of resources to inject liquidity and there may be another round coming soon.

China has lots of cash, yes.

But if it is being used to prop up a highly speculative property market, which seems to be building high rise cities with no-one to live in them, and no real prospect of anyone coming to live in them, then that doesn't make it attractive as a reserve currency.

You can inject as much liquidity as you like, but that doesn't alter the fundamentals. There is a massive oversupply of housing, offices and commercial properties which stand empty and bring no return. Putting in more money, to build yet more, will not solve that.

let me see................there is 1 party rule under a no-alternative-ideology and a nod-it-off sort of congress, there is a "dear leader" who rules both party and whatever else there is to decide plus the top commander of the complete gigantic armed forces, there has been unfriendly conquest and annexation of several previous neighbours, there is suppression of any type of differing ideas and religion, there are forced repatriation policies to exchange original ethnic population against own "race", there is superiority ideology for own "race", there are concentration camps for "re-education" of millions of the wrong thinking, there is sexual suppression of anything but the pre-defined "family values", there is government expropriation towards politically inconvenient or racially alien entrepreneurs, there is slave labour, there is blackmailing in foreign and commercial politics, there is massive threat against neighbours who follow other ideologies , there is the total admiration and brainwashing of the blown out of proportion armed forces with adjoining threat to anyone questioning the "devine" new order and race role,  there is a redrawing of history and mapping of the whole hemisphere redefining international law, there is no rule of law and courts without legal representation, there is a 99 % conviction on all and any charge , there is a gigantic corrupt and brutal administration, etc etc etc...................ah yes, sorry, I was talking about Germany between 1933 and 1945 after which the whole world said : how could you not have seen this , how could you ignore this and how possibly could you have done massive business with "it"  before it tried to eat you alive..........and choked on the try while putting the planet to ashes.  Remember a bloke called Chamberlain?

Or Russia ever since Stalin?

Old Joe has suffered from  foot in mouth disease his whole 50+ year political life. One step forward and two steps back.

Correct! God save the Queen!????

Looking at a map of China showing the close regional proximity of US military bases compared with a map of north America with no Chinese military bases anywhere near, I guess the Chinese need to be more afraid than the US.

Also, Americans forget there are a bunch of politicians older than Biden (Grassley is 89). It's just that Fox needs to find fault with Biden or he will defeat the Republicans again.

Absolutely nothing wrong with telling the truth, but when you are trying to ease 'tensions' its not the smartest thing to say, but old Joe isn't the smartest guy on the planet, or in the WH, or in his own head?????

The truth does not have to be smart, if it is the truth.

Jingthing  You think Biden knows he acts as a dictator too with his Executive Orders?  Biden and Obama wished they had the power Xi Ping.  Biden is almost there.

The only way to combat the party of no.
