webfact Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Pattaya has unveiled its plan to address traffic congestion by implementing four monorail lines in the city, beginning with the construction of a 9.9-kilometer “Green Line” route that will connect the future high-speed train station to Bali Hai pier. A public hearing was recently conducted on the feasibility study and environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the Pattaya City rail development project. The meeting was presided over by Pattaya Deputy Mayor Manote Nongyai, with local residents and representatives from the private and public sectors attending to listen and provide feedback on the Pattaya City Administration’s roadmap for the construction. During the meeting, the City Hall presented proposals for four monorail routes to the public which are the Green, Yellow, Purple, and Red Lines, as well as the proposed locations of maintenance and service centers. Popular Post marin Posted June 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 24, 2023 Somebody has dragged up an old article. From the Pattaya News article. "The development project will be executed in three phases. The first phase (2021-2026) will focus on constructing the Green Line alongside the Yellow Line, a dual-track rail project connecting Chon Buri and Sattahip district in the southern part of the province." Its mid 2023 and not a thing one has been done to start this project. Pure BS. 1 1 1 3
Geoffggi Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Pattaya has unveiled its plan to address traffic congestion by implementing four monorail lines in the city, I fail to understand how a monorail will address traffic congestion, people living outside Pattaya will continue to come in their cars and want to park as close as possible to their destination therefore where does the monorail come in??? - Better to build more parking within the city ........ 1 1
Popular Post Seppius Posted June 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 24, 2023 Might be a good idea to get the roads all open properly first. Theppasit Road is still a nightmare, and very dangerous at the moment 3
bronzedude Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Is this for real? Have any projects in Pattaya ever finished within the projected dates? That was a rhetorical question. Most times I add 5 years to a projection and 300 percent extra cost. This dream looks like 10 years and 1000 percent. I guess pigs are flying again! I hope the cost of port goes down. 1
Almer Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Many people keep there jobs by talking a lot, heavens forbid they put one on beach road 1

Yes, more parking in the form of parking garages and public lots on empty land so parking lanes on major roads can be converted to traffic lanes--especially critical on North Pattaya Road. Instead of the horrible monorail idea, use the money to complete the two underpasses that were planned but never constructed or use overpasses--as they are doing south of Pattaya and have done in Sri Racha.
champers Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 It's all supposed to be for passengers transiting from the high-speed train and heading on to their accomodation. Will run along 2nd Road. I look forward to seeing it.
still kicking Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Monorail in Germany running for 200 years never had an Accident of course it is upside down
Skipalongcassidy Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 And of course all will be built to spec...

Where is the high speed train station located?

Well there was discussion about that about a year ago, it was proposed to be out closer to Hua Yai, but the recent maps, like posted here on Asean now, we seem to be back at the location of the current railway station, near Soi Siam CC Rd.

So if the high speed station is constructed at the current decades old Pattaya station staion then a modern fast monorail is needed. Heaven forbid passengers got off the high speed train at the old Pattaya station then had to battle the song tow drivers and their cheating / overcharging to get to their hotels etc.

Saw some artist drawings of wide open and clean spaces you could never imagine in Pattaya in thousand years. There is already a flyover at the Sukhumvit crossing to get on Hwy 7 so the monorail will be high up over there!

Lots of money has changed hands for various feasibility studies done over the years. No way are they going to do 9+ kilometres in 3 years. Look at the mess they are making of Thepprasit and Sukhumvit and Rot Fai. The police will never allow anything to hurt their mafia buddies in the meterless taximeters.

fondue zoo Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 ..and then there is the ongoing, and in some respects, specialised maintenance. It may look like a train but it isn't a train.
