Self-proclaimed philanthropic tycoon Prasit Jeawkok sentenced to 1,155 years

Thai tycoon Prasit Jeawkok was sentenced to 1,155 years in prison today (Monday), after he was found guilty of 321 counts of fraud by the Criminal Court.

 

In practice, however, the most he will serve is 20 years under Thai law.

 

Prasit and two co-defendants were each fined 145 million baht and ordered to pay 321 victims about one billion baht in compensation for the damage caused to them.

 

Six other co-defendants were, however, acquitted due to insufficient evidence.

1,155 years notwithstanding, I'll be betting he'll be out of the pokey within 2 years or so, maybe less.

 

This is Thailand, after all, a well-known hub for financial fraud. And there's plenty of reasons it is.

He is an influential member of the club, after all.........he'll be released on parole in a few months after a "luxury" stay.

Whilst a 32 y.o. girl I knew for 10 years was raped and murdered in Kanchanaburi by a lowlife piece of <deleted> madman and he only got 7 years. Something seriously wrong here.

and rightful, you can't put some fraudster longer in jail than rapists and murders...

The right thing would be let him pay back + more + a fee + community service...let him clean toilets for 2 month and time counts only if he is on time and the toilets perfect cleaned.

And put the real bad guys in jail
