I don’t think you get it.

The whole point was for the streaming.

He's made big money doing that.

I seriously doubt he would be doing such scenes privately.

No money in that.

I do get why people dislike this dude and the way he makes money.

But objectively speaking just deport him and be done with it.

It's not good for Thailand's brand to be seen as overly draconian. Most people come here to have fun.

I do get it. He's in the <deleted> because he streamed it from Thailand. He's dumb enough not to do due diligence.

His claim that he'll kill himself rather than go to gaol in Thailand...  pffft.

Anyway, enough discussion about this low grade entertainer.

Well I agree that I wouldn't watch his stuff.

To be fair, fined and deported is likely all that will happen.

Dude's the only one talking about five years, and his "apology" was just another attempt to generate revenue.

You never know.

For the time being he is legally vulnerable and his grandstanding won't help him.

Exactly. There is a billion dollar porn industry going on in hotels all over Thailand, the difference here is this guy managed to attract the wrong kind of attention by making noise, making himself too visible,  or otherwise screwing up. I suspect that the 5 years threat was trotted out prior to a negotiated settlement. That's what police did to me when I had a minor incident and got caught with pepper spray. First they emphasized how long a sentence I might get, then they said they'd rather not do that, then we negotiated a "fine" which I paid with no qualms, since I already knew how the game was played.

That is straight out of the RTP franchisee manual. Chapter 4. Principals of extorting a foreigner.

Absolutely not. In no way, shape or form. How many human traffickers are plying their trade from 5 star hotels? It was clear this was a personal video for his gal. Intent always has to be taken into account. Draconian laws never benefit a society. They only add to the rot, and move a nation backwards.

I give up, how many?

Is it your position that some percentage of people watching others making money streaming soft porn from hotels (5 star or otherwise) are not tempted to do the same?

Firstly, you are engaging in pure speculation. And it is not my concern. There is nothing I can do to effect the industry. I try not to dwell on things I cannot change.

Exactly.  The owners of the hotel that has a reputation to uphold, for instance.

More so as this was in a public area (restaurant) of the hotel.

Absolutely and that is what I have already posted.

Yes, Alcohol is completely banned in Saudi Arabia.  If caught with alcohol as a foreign national (If a Saudi citizen you could get away with it) you could get lashes, a prison sentence or possibly deported, but not executed.

Saudi Arabia. An alcoholics paradise. Home brewed beer, wine and SID. If you wanted the real stuff for a special occasion Saudi nationals would provide (£75).

Well, shouldn't have been streaming obscene material.  I don't understand the younger generation.  Post all sorts of absurd stuff online.

The only obscenity committed here, is the one done by the RTP. The level of pretense, the level of fake purity, the dumb and mindless application of laws here is beyond inane.

What he was doing might be considered wierd by some. But, it was so utterly harmless. Women are getting abducted, raped and trafficked at this very moment, by Thai officials, and the police are pretending to be engaged in law enforcement. I seriously hope this results in just another omelette on the face of the rather useless RTP.

But I agree, back in the 1980 the first brush with Thai "culture" for many sailors on my ship(s) were Patong Ping-pong Ball Shows.  But there are limits to what can be posted online in Thailand.  Err on the side of conservatism.

'Faces five years in prison', in Thailand - as reported by the Thai media - generally means it's possible, according to what the law can potentially deal out (and thus is more attention-grabbing for news consumers), but if any actual penalties are imposed at all in cases like this (bearing in mind he only, in effect, made a bit of an <deleted> of himself, without malicious intent to offend or cause physical harm), they tend to fit the 'crime' with a more humane degree of good sense applied.*

The guy seems genuinely contrite, and wtf did he really do that was that wrong, anyway?

*Unless the person charged is a member of a progressive Thai political party, in which case, regarding any minor dismeanor of any nature (ie, picking one's nose), the right to the application of good sense  may be voided.

Of course, many of those youtubers make BIG money, it is only the cynic lowlife pensioners on this forum that think everyone is like them, living in a 25 sqm room with 1 fan.

I know of a famous youtuber in the US, who owns exotic cars to a value of 6.5 million US DOLLARS, and then we don't even talk about the real estate and cash he has.

It's the same with everything, if you know what you're doing and are motivated, you will make good money in any profession. And yes influencer is a profession.

I personally don't like youtubes or influencers, and will rarely watch one for longer than 5 minutes, but I have respect for those that make a living of it, and will never ridicule them for that.
