The inside story of Bangkok Remand Prison as it prepares to welcome Thaksin

I don't understand, I thought he had been found guilty in his absence, so why will he be held on remand?

Normally if your on remand, and can post bail, and not a flight risk, then you're released on bail.

I don't know how it works here, but in the UK, if your on remand and have money, then you can buy/have almost anything you want, phone, internet, TV, food, etc.

If Mr T goes to jail 90% of the politicians should be inside with him

And also the military coup leaders past and present who should be marching in steps to the jail

For anybody wondering why he would be going to a remand prison despite having already received a sentence:

"The Bangkok Remand Prison is for prisoners who have cases in the Court of First Instance, but this prison also has prisoners whose cases have already had judgment in the first court and are awaiting the process for the Court of Appeals or the Supreme Court."

You are on remand until you have exhausted all your appeal options.

Is there anybody out there who thinks Thaksin would come back if he would go to jail?

No.

Of course he isn't going to go to jail.

At worst it will be at some mansion in Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

In reality, this is only until a new story can be spun about how he is innocent and a free man.
