If you use it for a sleeping aid and quit there is a bit of sleeplessness till you get it sorted out.

We are all different in how we respond to not smoking it anymore, i've never had a problem when i've packed it in over the years.

Why not post on the medical/self help forum where people would look for

such info?????

Agreed.

Or the Mods could start a pinned thread here where all these concerned members can post about Cannabis Addiction issues and how to obtain help.

Title: I Smoke too Much Cannabis.

For the OP, are there Cannabis Addicts Anonymous meeting locations in Thailand? That might have been a good thing to add to the original post?

And if there are, do you bring donuts?

There is a small, select group here who feel the need to tell everyone how dangerous and addictive cannabis is. I honestly do not understand their reasons for telling other people how to make life choices? They may have their own demons and struggles and this sort of behavior helps them cope with their own challenges.

People claim addictions to all sorts of things: energy drinks, too much exercise, sex, porn, Cheetos, food, work, video games, phone/social media. If they want help they can find it.

Must stop, Garretts Chicago Mix. Very addictive.

I'm far from a hater, in fact one of my favourite songs is Legalize It by Peter Tosh.

Spent months on a Koh Panga beach in 1992 smoking weed and was the main reason I stayed.

That said, I know many who have relapsed from recovery from alcohol addiction by thinking cannabis was harmless. One friend died.

I feel its important to remind people that just because it suddenly, miraculously became legal in Thailand, it can be dangerous for some.

I agree that most smokers will have no serious consequences, apart from eating too many donuts, or antisocial behaviour. Paranoia can also be harmful.

I doubt there are Marijuana Anonymous meetings in Thailand, just as the are no Sex Addicts Anonymous. That doesn't mean they're are no addicts!

I don't smoke ganja as I find it better getting to the root of my problems, rather than use a substance as a crutch, like I did for 20 years since age 14.

I'm not telling anyone anything apart from there is help if wanted. If not wanted, just ignore.

I would seriously question that.......

Sleeplessness never killed anyone.

How can you "detox" from something that's not toxic?

That's like asking how do I detox from fresh air, sunshine, good sex, healthy food and daily exercise. ????

Smoked weed is a bit more cloudy than fresh air, old bean.

Not sure why. This is my personal experience and observation.

When I smoke dope, I find it very hard to socialize due to paranoia.

I have very dear old friends who have used for 40 years and on a recent visit to the UK, they were very reluctant to meet up with the rest of the crowd.

However, I found they were much more interesting to be with than the drunks ????

Having done a lot of booze and a lot of pot for decades....if you ask me which would i most like to be done beacuse i think it causes my body and mind more harm and is the hardest to give up?

the answer is pretty simple for me: no more booze.

will i do it?  probably not but i  have been trying to cut back on  booze at least some...and for me that is way more difficult to do then cut back on pot...i have certainly see the best and worst of both

that is my personal experience...yours may vary...

Same as me,  but I have quit the booze, by FAR the worse.

Interestingly, the way I quit booze is spiritual in nature.

Some say that ganja is helpful in gaining a spiritual experience, others say it isn't. In my time in India, met many Sadhus who smoked dope, and many others who said it was detrimental to enlightenment.

Bill Wilson, the founder of AA, which is what Marijuana Anonymous is based on, used LSD in his sobriety.

To use another analogy from a

different vice, you remind me of a drunk crying in your beer.

You are imaging things man.

I don't think ganja is a vice, and don't know why you do.

What has a drunk crying into his beer got to do with anything I've posted?

There is strong evidence that cannabis use may precipitate schizophrenia or exacerbate its symptoms. There is also reasonable evidence that cannabis use exacerbates the symptoms of psychosis (37).

Wow, I never knew this.

Looks like a credible source.

I've been telling my kids, who are legal age, that smoking ganja is OK.

I'll have to rethink as there is a history of psychiatric illness in my family.

Well, maybe science is wrong here to, or is it just another fabricated bull pie? More than 400 chemicals that plays in, and gives you a high is not toxic or making you addicted? Why most of the long term users I know never stop, even it impacts their daily lives like other substances that people use more than recrationally?

Cannabis Dependence and Tolerance

Cannabinoids appear to affect the same reward systems as alcohol, cocaine and opioids (34).Evidence for cannabis dependence is now available from epidemiological studies (6, 8) of long-term users (58, 59), clinical populations (75, 77) and controlled experiments on withdrawal and tolerance (35, 36, 37, 38). Tolerance to cannabis can occur in relation to mood, psychomotor performance, sleep, arterial pressure, body temperature, and antiemetic properties. The critical elements of cannabis dependence include preoccupation with its use, compulsion to use and relapse or recurrent use of the substance (39). Over 50% of cannabis users appear to have ‘impaired control’ over their use (40).Symptoms such as irritability, anxiety, craving and disrupted sleep have been reported in 61-96% of cannabis users during abstinence (36, 41, 42, 43).

Psychiatric Conditions Associated with Cannabis Abuse

In addition to producing dependence, cannabis use is associated with a wide range of psychiatric disorders (44).While there is a clear relationship between the use of cannabis and psychosis, different hypotheses for the same have been propounded. One such, which describes psychosis occurring exclusively with cannabis use has limited evidence. There is strong evidence that cannabis use may precipitate schizophrenia or exacerbate its symptoms. There is also reasonable evidence that cannabis use exacerbates the symptoms of psychosis (37).

Heavy cannabis(30-50mg oral and 8-30 mg smoked) use can specifically cause a mania-like psychosis and more generally act as a precipitant for manic relapse in bipolar patients (37, 44, 45). It is possible that cannabis exposure is a contributing factor that interacts with other known and unknown (genetic and environmental) factors culminating in psychiatric illness (46). It is noticed that in many developed countries, persons with severe mental disorders are more likely to use, abuse, and become dependent on psychoactive substances especially cannabis as compared to the general population (47, 48).The same phenomenon has not been established so far in India.

Most people are weak one way another!

Why people smoke, eat, drink to much, and often move to little?

What is the motivation to do something that is not good for you?

I smoke up to 1 gram a day maybe indoor for longer than 2-3 months, and then stop out of nowhere due to a flight elsewhere, it is usually absolute hell after the first day and I can really get days of amnesia and that kind of stuff.

But after that there is the super clarity, allowing me to get bulk load of the clarity things done in no-time. Then I see how bored it is again to always be sober, and that I can't even stick programming for 8 hours, I smoke again, build. what i prepared with clarity.

I did figure that it helps to have a very busy schedule already or all kinds of activities, as this distract you a lot in those first days and week. Alternatively to just make it a week of drinking instead, then you will still be calm and able to pass out and sleep, while the weed effects already go away, and then to not drink after a week is never a issue but a blessing.

Anyway: I think it is very important for all the regular smokers, to now and then have this break and reset. It is also rewarding because you usually can get by on less amount of weed again for a long time, saving money in the process.
