Biden accused of showing the 'same callousness' to Maui fire victims as Gold Star families following Afghanistan withdrawal

 

 

President Biden’s retelling of a 15-year-old story about a minor fire at his Delaware home is facing renewed backlash after he told victims of the deadly Hawaii wildfires Monday he shared "a little sense" of what they were going through.

While visiting the fire-ravaged remains of Maui, Biden recalled the fire that started at his Wilmington home due to lightning.

"I don’t want to compare difficulties, but we have a little sense, Jill and I, of what it was like to lose a home," Biden said. "Years ago, now 15 years, I was in Washington doing ‘Meet the Press’. … Lightning struck at home on a little lake outside the home. Not a lake. A big pond. It hit the wire and came up underneath our home, into the … air condition ducts.

"To make a long story short, I almost lost my wife, my '67 Corvette and my cat."

Biden has recalled the story multiple times in recent years in an apparent attempt to connect with victims of natural disasters. 

A 2004 report from The Associated Press, archived by LexisNexis, said lightning struck the Bidens’ home and started a "small fire that was contained to the kitchen." 

The report said firefighters got the blaze under control in 20 minutes, and they were able to keep the flames from spreading beyond the kitchen.

The Republican National Committee posted videos Tuesday showing Biden telling multiple variations of the story.

In October of last year, Biden told Hurricane Ian victims in Florida that he lost "an awful lot" of his home due to the fire.

Wasn't one of his stolen document piles just dumped on the ground next to that corvette in the house that hunter was living in? (the gold standard of safe classified document storage which allows the big guy to sic his DOJ on his chief political opponent for a seemingly lesser yet similar offense in the run up to a crucial election btw).

You still continue to spread a falsehood trying to equate Biden's possession of unauthorized documents with Trump's. The difference is clear: Biden violated the rules but Trump violated the law. The rules say that to be in possession of these documents they have to cleared with the National Archives. The law says that if you are in willful possession of those documents then you are violating the law. It is also a violation of the law to refuse to return said documents. And lying about continued possession constitutes obstruction of justice.

No need for more misinformation. You neglect to state the fact that Presidents have the ability to declassify any material on their say so. Senators and corrupt career politicians do not. 

 

 There is also evidence that biden jr was using the stolen classified material for shady purposes.

Yea, I agree but for me the saddest part is that Biden keeps getting knocked for claiming his son Beau died in Iraq. Technically not true of course but Joe does believe that the cause of his death was related to it and this is obviously still emotionally hurting him.

 

Beau served in Iraq while President Biden was vice president and earned a Bronze Star Medal and was awarded both the Legion of Merit, and the Delaware Conspicuous Service Cross. He died from cancer caused by the burn pits he was around while serving in Iraq.

According to his official calendar, the President arrived in Delaware on Friday July 28. Stayed until August 7.  Back to Delaware on August 11. Stays until August 14.  Then goes to his billionaire friend's home on August 18.  And is still there today. 

 

Oh yeah, I forgot. With a brief day trip to Maui shoehorned in on the 21st- he spent roughly 6 hours on the ground in Hawaii.  Nice of him to find the time for that...

Perhaps. But they might also have appreciated if Joe hadn't made the entire trip about Joe- how he lost his son, nearly lost his precious car, etc.   They might also have appreciated being sent a few of the millions of dollars that Joe is sending to Ukraine this month.

Snopes is certainly fast to carry water for Biden these days. But if you look at the clip it shows Joe just sitting, mouth open, not really focussing on anything.  He wasn't asleep IMHO but he was definitely spaced out in a way that is NOT a good look for a President. Combined with his puzzling and inappropriate remarks, is does not make for a good look.

 

But who cares, Joe is back on vacation anyway, enjoying his friend's luxury home on the shores of Lake Tahoe, taking a well earned rest from his 6 hour stay in Hawaii.
