Coups were made impossible after October 2019 when the control of the 1st and 11th infantry regiment was transferred away from the military chain of command.

The 2 units formerly part of the First Army region which oversees  security in Bangkok and central Thailand.

When PTP and their new pro-military allies appoint yet another stacked senate, there will be no need for a military coup.

So, in a way, he is correct.

Yes indeed. It will be interesting to see how the new govt handles the scheduled dissolution of the current senate next May.

Nor necessarily, the courts/commissions have the ability to strike down any election results, as we've seen recently

doesn't matter what any commission or court decides, it comes down to one person who decides who gets what.

In the words of another failed politician (and former president) in another well known country, "we'll see, we'll see how it goes".

As long as there's no coup b4 Thaksin and Yinglucks pardon, things will be fine, for a while

Thailand has long passed the days of military coups.

Rubbish! While ever greed is ingrained in the culture there will be snouts lining up for the trough, if the army deems it is more worthy of the trough, there will be coups!
