Out here in rural Kamphaeng Phet in the big village 6 km away there are 5 gas stations, none of whom are PTT. The nearest PTT station is about 16 km away and I would have to pass 10 or 11 gas stations (including 2 Esso stations) to get to PTT. ..and from whom do you think they acquire their products ? 3

MAKRO, Lotus, 7-Eleven, Carrefour, now Esso ... Wonder if at some time companies like Shell and Unilever follow suit. I'm suspecting these companies leave because Thailand makes it hard for them to do business here? But not sure. Will reduce competition though and that cannot be a good thing. We have two Shell petrol stations near me, one only been open a year and the fuel is always more expensive than other companies. 2

BTempleman
I wonder what happened out my way? We have a PT and a PTT station in town and now a brand new Cal-Tex is being built. I guess that there is still some competition in the service station market.

But they offer better service, cleaner toilets and better coffee shops than anyone else. Our local Esso station is the worst station in town, run by miserable Chinese, where absolutely everything is a huge effort for them, no toilets, no coffee shop, and you wait an age for service. Good riddance.

Good riddance. PTT does indeed offer a good service. Whether other stations are run by Chinese, Thai or Martians is irrelevant of course.
JBChiangRai
I can't understand people building new petrol stations, the requirement for petrol stations is going to be decreasing not increasing.

IMO the independents will buy from the cheapest source, and not just from PTT. They have no loyalty to and company, which is why they are called independents.
Banana7
Esso has no sediment diesel. I guess that will change with Bangchak takeover. Can anyone recommend a brand of diesel without sediment? Forget about PTT, some of their stations were recently in the news where their pumps were pumping less than the meter reading.
liddelljohn
This is terrible news as Bangchak do not supply Pure benzine at their stations , only Gasohol95
