Popular Post webfact
NEWLY-NAMED Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin Monay (Sep.4) told Pheu Thai members of cabinet to “never say no” to people about anything under their own responsibilities. Over luncheon at the Pheu Thai headquarters, the prime minister suggested all 17 Pheu Thai ministers that they “never say no” to people who may have asked them for help with their woes or decline to do anything under the pretext of budget or time constraints whilst they are primarily dutifully bound to do it. “This is a government of the people since we were all elected by the people to work for them. Whenever we visit people, we should never say we cannot get things done or cite budget or time constraints as excuses,” Srettha told the Pheu Thai members of cabinet. What hypocrisy. MFP won more Constituency MPs and list seats than did PTP. Add to that the slightly less numbers for PTP, coalition of smaller MFP-leaning parties and you get a very strong coalition that can support MFPs progressive agenda sorely missing from Thailand governance. MFP was ready to serve "We The People." But PTP said No. Being part of the MFP coalition was not enough power for PTP themselves to control the government. Instead PTP decides to serve "We The Special People." And immediately performs a "mea culpa" with the military. 5 2
klauskunkel
Quote PM Tells Cabinet Members To ‘Never Say No’ To People Just tell them to forget... (Days ahead of the election, he told VOA that he would decline the prime minister post if his party has to form a coalition with the parties of Prayuth and his deputy Prawit Wongsuwon. Now, with Pheu Thai announcing an alliance with Prayuth and Prawit’s parties, Srettha told reporters on Monday that the three months of political deadlock in Thailand had made “it necessary to forget what we said”.)

mfd101
From one extreme to the other! Political skill consists in (1) NOT promising what cannot be done for good reasons or bad (2) delivering what you reasonably can and making the most of it. Which means you have a pedagogical role, teaching The People what's doable and what isn't and why.
lordgrinz
He's going to send the economy into a tailspin with the amount of spending he will have to do to buy back Pheu Thai supporters. The only saving grace will be that hopefully the USD/BHT exchange works in the favor of us foreigners, please get it to about B40+ and I'll be a supporter too ????

herfiehandbag
That is pretty good, considering that the entire government is based on a resounding "no", followed by sticking up two fingers, to the Thai electorate!

bamnutsak
This poor sap has been in a position of power all his life, and has never ever been challenged. He clearly is all hat and no cattle. Trying to lead by spouting useless platitudes is a sure sign of ineptitude.
