Popular Post webfact Posted September 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2023 On September 8th at 12:00 PM, at the Samut Prakan Police Station parking lot, leading officers along with Provincial Police Region 1 investigators announced the arrest of a Columbian gang suspected of committing thefts in affluent villages in Samut Prakan and neighboring provinces. The primary suspects identified were: 1. MR. ALEXANDRO, a Columbian national, sought under warrant no. 670/2566 dated September 6th, charged with nighttime theft at a residential area using a vehicle and damaging property barriers. 2. MR. HENRRY, another Columbian, under warrant no. 672/2566 from the same date, faced similar charges. 3. Miss MARICELA, also from Columbia, pursued under warrant no. 671/2566 dated September 6th, is accused of nighttime theft. Confiscated evidence included: 1. A grey Toyota Vios with Chonburi license plates. 2. Two Prachuap Khiri Khan vehicle license plates. 3. Burglary tools. 4. A black full-face mask. 5. Thai banknotes totaling 32,700 baht. 6. Multiple foreign currency notes. Over 100 other items were recovered, pointing to a broad scale of their illicit activities. On August 29th, 2023, around 10:45 pm, authorities in Samut Prakan Province were alerted to a burglary in a residence located in Moo 6, Bang Mueang. After examining the premises, clear indications of unauthorized entry were present in the upstairs bedroom. A secure vault showed signs of interference. The list of stolen valuables encompassed 200,000 Thai baht, 500 US dollars, 50,000 rupees, several golden jewelry pieces, a diamond-studded pin, and a diamond chain worth 500,000 baht, reported Siam Rath. Security footage revealed that the culprits had previously targeted another house in the Nanthawan Village, and subsequent burglaries were reported in the Bang Kaeo area on September 2nd. Joint efforts between local police units and regional investigation teams pinpointed the suspects as three Colombians, residing in the Chonburi Province. Investigations revealed their modus operandi involved traveling from Chonburi to commit crimes in Samut Prakan and nearby provinces. On September 6th, based on intelligence that the group was planning a heist in Pathum Thani Province, authorities successfully apprehended all three suspects and recovered the aforementioned stolen items. The suspects, along with the seized evidence, have been handed over to the investigating officers in Samut Prakan. -- ASEAN NOW 2023-09-09 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. In most US states, "Breaking & entering in the Night time" is a more serious felony than daytime. This isn't the 1st time for Colombian B&E gangs here. More than 10 years ago a Colombian B&E gang was arrested in Pattaya. They had spotters in housing estates who would point out homes where the owners were away for extended periods, especially wealthy foreigners who go back to home countries for months at a time. They would go in with moving trucks, showing security false documents saying the home was being sold. It all went directly into containers that were then shipped to S. America. Apparently, there is a lucrative market for used consumer goods of all types in many S. American countries.

I have a vague memory it might still be that way here.

You don't know who the hell the people coming in are. A hotel the size of my condo would have plainclothes security looking out for people checking in for nefarious reasons (e.g passport theft gangs), we just have some guy in uniform from Isaan who sleeps through his shift.
