Government MPs have agreed to turn to a charter-mandated independent organization, such as the Constitutional Court, to rule on the appropriateness of Padipat Suntiphada remaining as deputy House speaker, after he was expelled from the Move Forward party last week.

Monsoon troughs blamed for rain and flooding in Sukhothai province

The flooding in Thailand’s central province of Sukhothai is attributable to areas upstream of the province being affected by monsoon troughs since late September, causing heavy rainfall in the Yom River basin, according to Thaweesak Thanadechophol, deputy director-general of the Royal Irrigation Department (RID).

Bangkok underwear thief caught with knickers in a twist at entertainment haunt

The arrest occurred after the police issued an arrest warrant, and the suspect was later found at an entertainment venue. Noodle shop’s slippery surprise: Giant python crashes lunchtime in Yala, Thailand

A giant python, almost 5 metres long and weighing 7 kilogrammes, caused a stir today when it slithered into a noodle shop in Yala, Thailand. The reptile was discovered by the shop owner, Suhayna Beeing, who immediately alerted residents of the Gunung Janoang community, sparking panic and attracting a crowd of onlookers.

First referendum on new constitution expected in Q1 of next year

The first referendum on a new constitution for Thailand is expected to be held during the first quarter of next year, after the formation of a 35-member ad hoc panel tasked with studying how the Constitution should be amended or rewritten and how many referenda will be needed, said Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai today (Tuesday).
