A 14 year old girl was repeatedly sexually assaulted by her biological father until she fell pregnant, as revealed by the local police in Bangkok.

The girl had been living with her grandparents in Buriram province following her parents’ separation in 2011. She moved to the capital in April to attend school. Her 34 year old mother currently resides in the Prawet district of Bangkok.

The despicable series of events unfolded around April last year, when the girl’s father, Somchai, brought her from Buriram to a construction camp in Soi On Nut 70/1, where he worked.

Over the following months, he sexually assaulted his daughter on numerous occasions. When the girl, identified as B, managed to escape and live with her paternal aunt in Soi On Nut 66, Somchai often visited and continued his horrific acts whenever B returned to him.

Why would they not terminate an incestuous pregnancy? Or was it too late?

Cannot get much lower than this .

Why did she not just run away ...?

Or told police about it ?

This human monster ( her father ) , destroyed her life by doing this .

She will need psychological help for a long time , but , will probably not being able to afford this .

Does Thailand have a ' help center ' for victims like her ?

and continued ... poor girl , she must have been too scared about him ... but relatives certainly knew about that , but did not help her ...?

Beyond comprehension .

So they are still gathering evidence before proceeding with a legal case. This is the normal slow RTP response to rape and abuse, if they can be bothered at all, going by the story he is not even in custody, next we'll hear the mother has gone to the press because of the cops doing naff all.

Incest is not all that uncommon here. I personally know a young woman who became pregnant due to father. He was given choice of prison or monkhood. She had the baby and passed him off as her younger brother.

And his mother is his sister? And his grandfather his father? It's too difficult to comprehend what effect it might have on the poor lad. Where will he turn for support? How can anyone explain to him what has happened? How will he make any sense of it? Maybe in later years, ok. These things happen etc etc. But, maybe here in Thailand, as you say, it's not that uncommon, so my moralising won't apply.

Are you really so naive?

Do you know if she had somewhere safe to 'run' to?

Incest is rampant in every country in the world including all first world countries.

A close friend in Oz workd in Childres service for about 5 years. He then resigned becaue he found the job way too stressful and upsetting.

Occasonally, when he needed to try to relieve his stress he woud tell his close family / very close friends about a situation he had come across that day.

Often it involved very severe cases of incest. Often he would mention that the general public has no knowledge of the extent of incest / all forms of incest, including fathers and daughters and sons, mothers and daughters and sons and much more. And often uncles featured in the situation.

Not always easy to run away, she did once. From my own family experience when 2 abused kids went to the police (some years later) the pedophile was arrested but not charged and many family members refused to even discuss it. It's a common family reaction that it's better to say nothing and the victim is sometimes blamed for making a fuss and bringing shame on the, so called family. Thailand does have help centres who often take up a victims cause. It' a fallacy here that a wai and a fine or bribe will get you off of raping children. He needs to get 20 years at least.

Back room, injection...

No they need to do it publicly to send the message to everyone in Thailand that this won't be tolerated. Unfortunately they condone it thru their lack of action in these cases and their view of domestic violence being acceptable and unanswerable
