Revolutionary Solar Tower Can Create Jet Fuel Out Of Thin Air — And It May Be The Key To Cleaning Up The Aviation Sector

Featured Replies

“Solar kerosene is fully compatible with the existing infrastructures.”

It’s not rocket science, but instead “carbon-neutral” jet-fuel science.

It’s simply a method for pulling carbon pollution and water from the air and using the sun’s energy to turn these into fuel for an airplane.

And there’s a “solar tower” and giant mirrors involved.

A team of scientists led by Aldo Steinfeld, a professor at Switzerland’s ETH Zurich, has demonstrated a process that could reduce the impact of air travel on the overheating of the planet.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Interesting but I wonder...how cost effective?  However, it beats the heck out of the 'carbon capture' schemes where CO2 is pulled out of the air and pumped into the Earth crust.  At least you get something for your efforts as opposed to - quite literally - funneling a few hundred billion into the ground.

Mollusks have been doing this for eons and are still doing it. Hence structures like the White Cliffs of Dover. I don't think humans will add much to their efforts🤔

That's an interesting idea.

Currently aviation (non-military) is using between 52 - 95 Billion Gallons of aviation fuel per year. Reason for the spread of the numbers is due to pre covid flights and during covid flights. A beefed up version of this machine is anticipated to produce 9 million gallons per year so 10.5 machines should do it.

A bit disappointing to note this comes from a Camms Comic though.

There are many alternatives to oil. But many lobbies do not really want things to change. First the oil majors for obvious reasons. Then more subtle, the environmentalists neither. As once all goes green, they will have no further reason to exist politically and remain in power.

Please send 1 million baht to invest......or 10 million baht if you really want to be a player in this exciting new magical opportunity.....all based on science and magic. Nothing can go wrong and your money will go on making you more and more money for ever and ever. Don't let this opportunity pass you by like you did with bitcoin where for $100 investment you could have been a self made millionaire.

Correction due to calculator brake failure:

10,555 machines should do it.

Any one who did not notice this should apply for a job in TAT.
