Arrested for sure as public opinion in Thailand is shifting and corruption is no longer tolerated. But once in detention, will they get VIP treatment that any other falang joe soap would never have got obviously ?

He's been arrested and charged. There is no suggestion he will be found guilty or punished. Indeed I think a small slap on the wrist is brewing as soon as there is a big news story dominating the news to cover the story of this pooyai turd.

He (Veerachai) is just a son-in-law. The father-in-law (Chada) is just the person who received the dowry. He can’t dictate his son-in-law’s actions,” said Anutin, as he commented on the case.

Is Anutin suggesting the dowery may have been 'saved' by corrupt practices, before it was given to Chada?

A peculiar comment by Anutin. It does sound as you say that Anutin is trying to make out that Chada accepted a large dowry from the suspect with no idea that he was a criminal and he was receiving ill gotten gains.  But if, as is likely, it was a very substantial dowry, Chada must have had his suspicions about how a lowly local mayor could have acquired it.

He said that the arrests of the three local officials and two civilians is a clear indication that no one is above the law, despite their political connections.

Chada has been assigned by Anutin to crack down on Mafia-style influential figures across the country.

Chada has been assigned by Anutin to become ' unusually rich ' in a short time ...?

How's that going?

Last I heard (BP today) he had completed his "list", with 180 individuals who are "actively" influential, and another 625 individuals who have agreed to reform themselves. Ten provinces are free of influential people.

Sounds like corruption has been eliminated. Phew, I feel better.

How does he keep his face straight?  There is a deal of difference between SON and SON-in-Law.
