Plates, Saucers, Bowls.

apart from the very " limited "plate sets ive been able to find at HomePro, Thaiwatsadu  etc,

where can i buy a quantity of loose plates, not sets...

 

not melamine, but cheap saucers , bread plates, bowls etc

i need a decent quantity

 

is an outlet shop somewhere that sells a big variety of these..

Not on google map, but there is a store next to GreenHead Dispensary on Nimman Road that sells odd lots celadon plates for about 100-200 baht apiece.

 

I recently bought nice fake Japanese-style plates at Central Dept Store for 129 baht a plate (on sale).

Plastic rules, cheap n cheerful, many sizes and types, available at hundreds of plastic shops everywhere. but then I don't run a restaurant or need to impress anybody. No insult intended, just saying.

For cheap and old, try Chiang Puark flea market. I bought Kantom trays there for 100 baht apiece.

Thanks for some most interesting ideas and suggestions

when i lived down south, Hua Hin area, there was a huge crockery store on the highway that literally had 100' s of thousands of items

plates, saucers from 15 baht upwards

i bought dozens for plant pot saucers and some for normal use

 

i now need some more, for both plants, and cat food plates

Have you tried the 2nd hand, from Japan, stores? I'm in the south end, shop at "Hugjang Japan" on occasion, but there are others on the east and north side too. I call them 2nd hand, also called consignment stores. You might check them out.

There is a place just like you describe on the Super Highway, heading out of town, a door or 2 past the under-construction US Embassy (in CNX)

There is a warehouse type building at the back of Marina Mall/ Big C. They have oodles of crockery/cutlery/mugs/glasses etc all sold as singles. Worth a mooch around there.

Lampang 200km round trip, he'd pay more in fuel than buying crockery, assuming he has transport. 😁

i managed to find this place which stocks Zillions of plates, saucers bowls etc, and for everyday knockabout use they are just fine

might be worth a visit if you need any decent quality product and very acceptable prices

Yes, but everyone is not as smart as you.

 

A lot of others might think wow, Chiang Mai is a pretty big area, how far does one want to walk/ride/drive to buy dishes? 

 

I'm in Bangkok, and there's not much I'd want to drive to Nong Chok for, certainly not a few cheap plates.
