Bangkok—On November 2nd, 2023, Anti-Trafficking In Persons (ATP) officers were dispatched to search two warehouses in the Suksawat area, Rat Burana, Bangkok, on a search warrant from Thonburi Criminal Court.

During the search operation, there were illegal blank guns and BB guns of more than 400 units and additional gear of more than 780 units found, with an estimated value of 4 million baht.

The firearm imitations are controlled goods being sold without the Thai government’s permission.

A recent thread on that subject came to absolutely NO solid conclusion. Some say illegal, Google says legal. Once again, Thai laws are clear as mud.

So BB guns and toy guns (blank firing) are illegal?

No, but they meet the definition of a firearm in Thai law and as such would require licencing to import/hold/distribute.

I'm guessing the illegality in this case is the absence of conformity to bureaucratic procedures.

From the above Nation link :

Quote

Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced a strong gun policy on Thursday, saying that only officials would be authorised to possess firearms, and the public would not be allowed to own them – not even imitation weapons like BB guns.

I guess they've decided to completely disarm the country.

"He said he would not allow ordinary people to get a permit to own a firearm"

No guns for the peasants...got it.
