ChrisY1
When the cables are all tangled up on poles instead of underground, the temptation for easy money is too tempting for thieves, and will likely get worse as costs increase beyond peoples' capacity to afford living costs. mikebell
Why did the thieves cut cables? The local authorities are tidying up the tangle near me & leave yards of it by the road overnight.

Sydebolle
In the past they harvested mangoes etc.; in having moved into the 21st century it is cable harvesting time....... as long as copper and aluminium fetches premiums in the recycling market ....... where nobody asks about the origin of the ware being offered ;-)

She lost her internet connection and is living in fear and is afraid to give her name because of it?
Muhendis
Just one small point. Internet plus telephone landline is all fibre-optics these days. Glass is worthless. Because of this it's possible she was targeted for some reason. Who else lost their connection? Edited November 13, 2023 by Muhendis
