King Charles praises ‘selfless’ people who form ‘backbone of society’ in Christmas speech

King Charles has praised the work of volunteers, calling them a “selfless army of people” who form an “essential backbone of our society”.

In his second Christmas speech, the king said he was delighted that hundreds of volunteers and their representatives attended his coronation in May, saying their presence “emphasised the meaning of coronation itself, above all, a call to us all to serve one another, to love and care for all”.

 

In an apparent reference to rising homelessness, and people housing displaced victims of conflicts, such as Ukrainians, the monarch highlighted one part of the story of Jesus when “Mary and Joseph were offered shelter in their hour of need by strangers”.

 

Last Christmas he had underlined the cost of living crisis and the “great anxiety and hardship” of many struggling to “pay their bills and keep their families fed and warm”.

In November, he launched the Coronation Food Project, which will distribute otherwise wasted food to people struck by food poverty. In Monday’s speech, he said “we need to build on existing ways to support others less fortunate than ourselves”.

Most immigrants are on benefits, especially muslims and are not a net contribution to the ecomony. Nobody voted for a million arrivals every few months, we dont need them and dont want them. If you think they are not a burden visit an A&E any day, most in cities will be immigrants. They keep the NHS going- for other immigrants and the number of dodgy foreign doctors who only completed a 3 year online course, and who often can barely speak English is a scandal

White people, White Families are more likely to be receiving benefits than non white people/families .

Many immigrants work for the NHS and other low paying jobs .

A million every month? I think you'll find net immigration is not even that a year.

 

Immigrants on visas can only claim employment based benefits. Only then, those on a working visa must leave if they are not working for longer than 60 days.

 

Those on family visas cannot claim if not working. If they are not working, spouse must adhere to the financial requirements, soon to drastically increase, alone.

 

Muslims? I wasn't aware benefits were religion specific

   The NHS implemented new rules over ten years ago , stating that Doctors need to pass an English speaking test to become Doctors

Immigrants benefits claims are not based on race. Neither are UK citizens.

Similarly, over 10% of those surveyed noted that they lived in social or council housing whilst a further 40% indicated that they were in receipt of some form of benefits. In both groups, over two-thirds of Muslims noted that they have experienced difficulty in affording at least one household bill.

The claim was "most immigrants" are on benefits.

 

Also, the Government statistics show "state support" in their figures showing ethnic claimants. That includes government pension, which is not really a benefit as its been paid for.

 

I would imagine the figures would be quite different if pensions were not included. Give it 10 or so years it will change a lot too as second generation UK citizens become pensionable age.

Why use figures you can support?

 

Anyhow, if there were not any immigrants working in UK, a very large percentage of care homes would be grossly understaffed or closed down due to lack of staff. Many people in need of domiciliary care would not get it.

5555. That's funny. You've added figures together for effect. 

 

Those figures also include state pension. That is employment based. Meaning they have been working and paying dues, if on full pension, for 37 years.

Proton is suggesting they are not contributing to the economy. 

 

Receiving employment based state support suggests they have been and likely still are.

 

What percentage of all UK citizens would 40% of Mudlims be? My guess would be around 10%.

43 % of Asians receive state support

51 % of Black people receive state support 

Add them both together and you do get 93 %

But to get a true figure , you would have to then divide by two

Immigrants working lower paid jobs do not get paid less. They are subject to national living wage.

 

Also they have to earn enough to satisfy visa requirements.

Much less than that. Less than 7% of the UK population are Muslim according to data in the 2021 Census. 40% of that would be under 3%, but what proportion of the 7% are of working age?
