Hi, does anyone know of any Leica dealerships in Isaan? My old friend, my Leica camera has started playing up. I can no longer use the telephoto lens control.....nothing happens. I don't know if it is the camera body or the lens. I'm looking for a local Isaan dealership so I don't have to travel to Bangkok or Singapore.

If you happen to strike out, or they want too much to fix, how old is the Leica ?

I have an Sony @6000 mirrorless (released 2014/15), I picked up new, Xmas 2018, I'd be willing to let go rather inexpensive..  Gets little to no use now, since I have two Sony @6400 bodies, that I have my 2 main lenses on.   The @6000 has the kit lens (16-50mm) and a zoom (55-210mm) which is sharp enough in the 70-190mm range.  Also 2 other manual lens (35 & 12mm), F1.7 & F2 or 2.8, I think,

Photos on pages 7-8-9-10 with the @6000 body & lenses, mostly I think, and very little editing, as not having any good software back then.

Thanks. The broken one is fairly recent, I'm not sure exactly probably 2019 or 2018. I have a 35mm M2 still in working order, maybe 50 or more years old (I bought it second hand in the early 10970s) but who uses film any more? I used to work in B&W and develop my own, but digital is so convenient. I have a small collection of old cameras for nostalgic reasons.

TBH I'm not looking at other cameras right now....I'd like to get this one fixed. I don't think there is much wrong with it, because you can use the zoom manually but it will not activate from the widget on the camera body which is conveniently next to your thumb as you are composing. I'm sure there is a place in Bangkok, but I don't fancy shanking down there. As a last resort I'm going to NY for 3 weeks from March 20th and will have no problem for a fix there.

That's recent enough tech.   I know folks love their Leicas ... Good Luck

Which Leica is it? Sound to me like the D-Lux 7. I have the Panasonic LX-100 V2 (the sister camera) with exactly the same problem. I checked in Europe to get it repaired and it cost a small fortune so I gave up and use the ring around the lens. At any rate I think  the best place to go is A.V.Camera in Bangkok https://www.avcamera.com

The owners name is Mana Prapassarangkul and his phone number is/was (been a long time since i talked to him), but you'll find other phone numbers on the website.

Good luck. Would be nice to hear how it pans out.

Thank you. I'll check with them next time I'm in Bangkok....I was just anxious to avoid the trip.

Give them a call. Maybe they can give you some good advice.

Good idea....assuming they speak the King's English, of course.

I recognise it's not your preferred option but I'll second jchfriis's recommendation of AVCamera in Bangkok, ( easy to get to right beside Saphan Thaksin BTS ). Best specialist camera shop in Bangkok and Leica stockist. I've bought lots of used gear from them in recent years once I discovered them, excellent service.

I tried them at a supermarket in Korat, but they didn't sell Leica. Perhaps I should try a larger city like Pattaya or Bangkok.

If at Bangkok, try EC Mall @ Fortune Town(Rama 9), as the sell Leica, and should be able to help or point you in the right direction.
