A student protest recently erupted in a school located in Mae La Noi, Mae Hong Son. The students rallied against the school’s director, barring entry into the school premises by locking all entrances.

The protest was a response to the director’s decision to lodge a police complaint against a student who posted pictures of the school’s unsatisfactory midday meal consisting of plain rice, a single boiled egg, and a small packet of red-eye chilli dip at 8.30am on today.

The previous day at 6pm, the school director lodged a complaint about the student who posted the image of the meagre meal at the local police station. The complaint was lodged with Inspector Panuphan Chanthachom, an investigator at Mae La Noi Police Station, under the Computer Crime Act.

At 7pm that same day, students from the school collectively went to Mae La Noi Police Station to protest against the director.

Not a very good choice of photo to accompany  article.

A photo of the school in question would have been better.

A recent student protest has led to the imminent transfer of a school director in the Mae La Noi district, Mae Hong Son. The unrest was sparked when the director, Sineenat Rodkrue, complained to the local police about a student who had criticised the quality of school lunches on social media.

The controversy unfolded on yesterday, January 12, at Rat Prachanukhro 21 School, where students assembled at 8.30am to prevent Rodkrue from entering the premises. On the previous day, she had filed a complaint with Mae La Noi police, accusing the student of violating the Computer Crimes Act.

The student’s contentious post was shared on the Watchdog. Act’s Facebook page, included a photograph highlighting the poor quality of the school lunch – a simple meal of rice, a boiled egg and chilli paste. The post quickly caught the attention of Thai social media users who began questioning the irregularities in school lunches.

Reacting to the situation, Mae Hong Son’s provincial governor, Chettha Mosikarat, ordered his deputy to promptly investigate the issue to quell any further discontent within the school. The educational establishment houses over 500 students from a range of ethnic backgrounds. However, a superior’s urgent demand dictated that the school director be transferred within 24 hours.

The children acted like adults in this matter, and the adult, well, behaved like a whiny child. I'm sure the students are also just as aware as we are that in every previous case like this one, it has turned out that an administrator was siphoning off the school lunch money for personal use.

When the kids come out of our local school 3.30 4.00pm they rush to buy food, they are that hungry, they can buy chicken nuggets and chips, from my missus from 15baht, yes junk food but if she can make a baht she will.

So she went to the police to complain about the student who published the photo of his meal ...?

How could he dare to do this ?

He did not know who she is ( was ) ...?

This shows how little respect there is here for one's fellow human beings. You would think that as the director of a school, your mission is to help and guide children as much as possible towards a bright future. And then, to file a complaint like a little child when one of your students rightfully expresses a grievance. You could also ensure that your facilities are in order. It might once again be about money and corruption. Kick him out.

indeed, just look at the horizon post office scandal in the uk
