Hit And Run: Hot-Headed White Sedan Driver Surrenders to police - Video

A white sedan driver, involved in a heated collision with a taxi on Ratchada Road, has turned himself in, uttering "taxi" before fleeing the scene. The driver, attempting to appear responsible, feigned maturity, while the mother claimed her son was mentally ill, presenting medical records. Expressing regret, she implicated her son and the police sent him to the hospital for psychiatric assessment.

 

The incident involving a white Toyota Crown occurred on Ratchadaphisek Road, near Huai Khwang intersection, late last night, captured in a viral social media clip. Founder of "Sai Mai Road" page, Ekkaphop Lueangprasert, shared that the driver's mother sought assistance, revealing her son's long-standing mental health treatment history, reported Thai Rath.

 

As of January 15, 2024, the police have contacted the sedan owner's family, who reluctantly acknowledged his involvement. They plan to provide a statement today. Details like alcohol consumption, reasons for fleeing, or the driver's illness are withheld, pending a detailed interrogation and a thorough medical examination for substance abuse or alcohol.

 

The sedan, abandoned near Inthamara Soi 26, is impounded as evidence. Investigations into the incident suggest various charges, including reckless driving and hit-and-run. Police contemplate different legal approaches for events at three locations, leaning towards charges related to property damage and intentional collision. The green-yellow taxi, seemingly innocent, may not face charges. 

 

At 1:00 PM, taxi driver Winyu Kaewphrom, involved in the collision, shared his account with investigators. While driving along Ratchadaphisek Lane 3, he noticed the speeding white sedan tailing him aggressively. Despite trying to evade, the sedan eventually collided, fled, and crashed into a pole near The Street Ratchada. The taxi driver observed erratic behavior, indicating possible intoxication.

In an update at 5:40 PM, Pol. Col. Prasopchoke Eiam-pinij, chief of Huai Khwang Police, revealed ongoing interviews with the sedan driver's mother. Her son's medical records, dating back to 2015 for abnormal brain chemical treatment, were presented. Expressing sadness over the incident, she maintained that her son had conflicts with her but refrained from divulging details due to the ongoing investigation. Further questioning of the treating physician will help determine the role of mental health in the

incident.

 

 

Police Await Results of Physical and Psychiatric Evaluations for Hit-and-Run Suspect

 

Huai Khwang Police Chief reported that this morning, the hit-and-run suspect underwent a thorough medical examination at the police hospital to check for substances in his bloodstream. While the suspect can provide a narrative and expressed remorse, abnormalities were detected, requiring further tests. The police are awaiting the comprehensive results before deciding the course of action. The suspect's mother admitted her son's wrongdoing, but no charges or arrests have been made yet, as the suspect willingly surrendered and awaits the outcome of medical tests and statements from witnesses.

 

At 8:00 PM on the same day, the police transferred the suspect for psychiatric evaluation and treatment at Somdet Chaopraya Hospital. During the process, the suspect appeared normal, wearing casual attire and displaying no signs of stress. Subsequently, the police chief, with a smiling face, interacted with the media, gesturing a salute and bending his head slightly when he noticed the cameras.

 

Police Chief Prasopchoke Eiam-pinij stated that after the psychiatric evaluation, the next step is for doctors to determine if the suspect is mentally fit to stand trial within the legal timeframe of 45 days. If diagnosed with mental health issues, treatment and periodic reporting every 180 days will be required until deemed fit for trial. If no mental health issues are found, the suspect will be returned to face legal proceedings.

Taxi drivers can send any driver into a mental spin .

If was deemed fit to drive, then he is fit for trial. he stopped in traffic, but what was the taxi driver thinking, overtaking and cutting right across him?

Does any of this explain why the taxi was 'parked across' the lane blocking the white sedan ?

 

Was this after an initial impact, or the 'trigger' for the initial impact ??

Looks to me that the taxi driver didn't like being cut off earlier and escalated the situation into a fender bender... two Thai "momma" boys showing their asses.
