Experience Of Uk Consulate

Featured Replies

I thought I'd try a consulate for my second Non Imm O visa instead of going to the Thai Embassy in London. I sent off the relevant information and £100 cheque to the Cardiff consulate (I think manned by Brits). I had my passport and document back in two days - so amazing service. Instead of the "sticker" visa it was a stamp, which is fine, but below it says "no extension". So far I haven't been able to get in touch with them to ask what this means (it's not easy to get in touch with a person at these Embassies to ask!), but as I'm travelling next week I hope it doesn't mean that I am unable to extend this visa at Thai immigration near the end of its expiry. I am hoping it just means that I cannot extend the 90 days (and therefore have to exit/return), but I haven't heard of this message on the visa before.

Does their visa stamp still say "Cardief"?

My first non-o was from them, and it had the 'no extension' stamp. I can only assume it means that you can't get the 7 day extra at immigration as I got a work extension with zero problems :o

I wouldn't worry :D

Great :-)

The stamp actually said "Caaardief" for some reason.

The stamp is normal to let those used to tourist visas know they can not obtain the 30 day extension of stay (no qualifications extension) they are used to getting on that visa. Visa can still be used for one year extensions of stay if you meet the qualifications.
