We're not in China-Piano Incident

Featured Replies

Not surprised by the Chinse but how the British Police Officer responded was surprising.

The problem is that the Police responded to the Chinese accusation of “racism”, foolishly.

The Chinese complained about being filmed, even though the only reason they appeared on film was that they stood in front of the camera. Ironically one of their party was filming the pianist.

What makes me laugh is that China is the world’s premier surveillance society, with face recognition cameras everywhere, and with digital surveillance of foreigners smart phones when they turn them on after arriving in the country.

if they ever succeed in dominating the world we will all be living in our own version of 1984. Orwell was a very prescient writer.

Was more concerned with the Chinese girl muttering 'Don't shoot him' in the background.

Suspect the shouty Chinese security man had a gun on him, but the police (of course) never checked.

An example of entitlement right there.

Almost certainly connected Chinese who wander through life protected by a security detail.

The pianist deserves a pat on the back for not punching the aggressive Chinese guy’s lights out.

But what a home goal, bleating about ‘protecting their image rights’ in a video that goes viral.

As BritManToo points out, definite probable cause to conduct a weapons search.

The ironic thing about this is that the Chinese all "work" at a pro communist college in London that's sole purpose is to spread Chinese propaganda. The college receives part funding from the UK government.

I just watched another video and a guy got on that piano and played Glory to Hong Kong, he was Chinese

I don’t post videos, but for those who are interested, the following search term will return a YouTube video that discusses the reception of this story in China.

“Mainland Chinese react to Brendan Kavanagh & the Piano Incident | "Don't Touch Her" guy gets ROASTED”

Yeah, but all the female police officer seemed concerned about was the alleged attempted "assault" on the Chinese woman.

(because the pianist allegedly tried to reach out to touch her hand or arm while talking to her)

Perhaps that’s all that was reported to the female officer.

She was definitely aware that the Chinese were telling him that he had to turn off his camera in a public space.(which is wrong)

And it should have been clear to the officers they were harassing him to turn his camera off (also shouldn't be happening)

Nonetheless, the female officer told him to turn his camera off (which she doesn't have the right to do)

And then she questioned him about allegedly moving his hand forward in the direction of the Chinese female (in fact looking at his video footage, he was actually gesturing towards the flag she was holding, not trying to touch her)

No, she questioned him about allegedly touching the woman.

The allegation, repeated multiple times and at high volume, was he had touched her.

The footage shows that to be a false allegation, but the officer was responding to the allegation and took no further action when the pianist explained his side of the story.

The officer was right to address that allegation, and yes wrong on other matters you listed.

Some of the Chinese have been identified.
