Residents of Khonsai Village, Tambon Tad Thong, Yasothon Province, experienced a sleepless night on February 4th, 2024.

News reports revealed that villagers in Khonsai were on edge, alternating between sleep and wakefulness due to the fear of a potential electrical fire originating from power poles within the community. The tops or ends of the power poles were entangled with a mess of cables, creating a hazardous situation, reported Siam Rath.

Not only were the cables intertwined, but birds had also constructed nests using debris and grass, adding to the concern. The combination of bird nests and bundled cables posed a significant fire risk. While such a fire might serve as an excellent ignition source, the critical issue was its proximity to residential homes. Residents worried about potential house fires if an electrical short circuit were to occur while they were away at work or engaged in other activities.

News outlets reported that villagers had notified the local administrative organization (TAO) and the power company about the situation, but no corrective action had been taken. The Tambon Tad Thong municipality acknowledged the issue but claimed it was beyond their jurisdiction, as the responsibility lies with the provincial power authority.

As of now, no repairs have been made, leaving villagers anxious about the looming threat of a fire outbreak. They can only hope for a resolution before the situation escalates further, remaining vigilant as they navigate their alternating sleep-wake routine.

..this photo shows a bird's nest, all that's missing is the presence of the occupant

Put in a circuit breaker... sleep peacefully,  when the cables eventually catch fire you will be fine and the power company will have the headache.

Another pathetic example of a Thai organisation laziness in not dealing with a potential catastrophe.

If the head of the local PEA office house was underneath that mess it would be dealt with immediately.

But as a mere customer you receive the usual customer service experience in Thailand, nothing.
