Three weeks of Songkran celebrations begin April 1st

Featured Replies

Pretty sad state of affairs when you have to wear a rain poncho on the motorbike just to go out for dinner. I had planned on leaving April 11 just to avoid the nonsense. If they move it forward to April 1, I will not be a happy tourist.

Queue the standard "I hate Songkran" posts, 555.

It's good fun.

Whole month of April, combined with music festivals be great.

TAT says Songkran festival will be 3 weeks long this year(2024).

Does that actually mean water throwing will be allowed April 1-21?

Or it is only for 3 days as usual(4/13-15) in real term?

Does anyone have detailed information about it?

I usually stay put for 3 days(4/13-15) during the day as I don't want water splash on me.

I live in Chiang Mai.  There are always some idiots who splash filthy canal water(house sewerage flows into) with buckets.

That is something I am keen to avoid.
