Bought years ago......took original stake out x 2....now playing with house money.....i feel a right idiot.

Sold my house to buy bitcoin under $19k  1.5 years or so ago. I feel so foolish, especially as many wise ones here told me I was an idiot.

well this idiot just sold his BTC and made US $25k profit.

Can't get excited by those amounts i'm afraid.

A decent day in my funds will make that - but never a need to sell.

Whilst crypto still has no obvious use - besides for illegal stuff, it feels like its running on greater fool theory. And wow does the last month really demonstrate that!

Not necessarily, as it has a volatile nature and if you're brave enough you can trade from a low cost platform (not Revoult). The swings are often 5-10% & frequent. 4 reasonable trades in a month 20%. Personally I am rubbish at it so have opted out of crypto these days.

To use the words of another no-coiner before you, if you didn't sell then you didn't make a profit.

Good that you are happy with your funds, but your boasting of daily profits doesn't prove anything unless you invested them same amount of the poster you are comparing with.

Ah but here lies the fundamental problem - i'm absolutely not investing the same amount, because generally speaking the crypto guys don't have it.

I'm cool with 5% on +£1m in the stockmarket. 7 or 10% is fabulous.

I don't need it with 20 years expenditure (and growing every month) in cash.

I'll be invested for another 30 years, so x6 or x8 maybe?

Good luck to those who need to risk it but i'm not one of them, thankfully!

At the moment yes, wait for a pull back. The higher the price goes without a correction the bigger it will be when it comes.

Still early in this bull market I think. I'll start DCA out of BTC at $120k

No one ever made a profit until they sold of course but if you've just sold ALL your BTC, that's going to look like a mistake I think

You confirm that comparing your stocks gains with the other guy's crypto gains made no sense whatsoever. btw, the people who REALLY made money with crypto buying in the early days certainly don't come posting about it here.

Also, many who invest in crypto do so with a fraction of their assets, which they can afford to lose. So "risk" is not that much, really.

not a mistake. I set a target price to sell at and stuck with it. I learnt with one of my other coins that when you set a target don't deviate. That coin had tripled in price to what I paid and I got greedy and decided not to sell. The next week the value dropped to zero. Wasn't going to deviate from the planned course of action again.

Yeh ok! Keep dreaming.

One of the few people who actually posted his gain in $ and not % was ever so thrilled with it.

Turns out it was rather small.

I understand and it's usual to set realistic targets but I don't think $60-64,000 is a realistic target for BTC in this cycle.

BTC usually hits it's highs 12-18 months after the halving and even if you believe in diminishing returns it's due to go a lot higher.

If I was worried i would take out my original investment now and just leave in the profit and start to DCA out later.

Best of luck

lol... remind me not to use you as a financial advisor! 5% is below inflation :cheesy:

I advised you to buy the bottom a year or so ago at $19k, you could have got 270% this last year -  :cheesy:

I just don't trust the exchanges.

a week ago I was trading on Coinbase when they had a balance  wipeout. I thought they were pulling another ftx or Celsius. As soon as they recovered I pulled my money out.

just don't trust them.

Well, with your name!

My buddy got 72% back from Celsius btw.

Better in a hardware wallet.

Good luck, the next year or two will make you rich!

So one poster is a prolific poster on crypto yet doesn't buy any. Then when he is wrong, tells us that he is a Thai farmer :cheesy:

Another says he is some kind of investment advisor and gets 5% on his money, obviously doesn't understand basic finance.

Your level of humble is admirable.

Sandwiched in between the non-stop insults.

Easy to shut you down though. Just show you the £££.
