A moments madness he will regret doing... show hi the exit door.

Something tell me this is not just a moment, but part of a pattern.  You don't do this kind of thing just once in a while.  As long as there is clear evidence, then let's just throw him off a fishing boat in deep water, and let the sharks have him.

Only after he has served 5 years in jail in Thailand!

That could be true. But me thinks they will find a legal way to deport him before the court appearance. That will include 'resuming' any of his financials/property to pay the fine imposed.

Yes, another one...but what is wrong with some of these people?

It's just going to make it worse for we other foreigners living here in Thailand.

Clearly he's not a banker....can't imagine one of the gnomes of Zurich choosing Trang as his retirement spot.

On the other hand, he is for sure a <deleted>....rhymes with banker....

Another one... soon the media will keep pushing this narrative and we "farangs" will be stereotype for a few bad apples (if this isn't already happening).

Let's be extra nice to Thais for at least a while.

I guess the criminal is afraid Thai people/neighbours would do the same to him, what he did to the Thai lady.

That's why he "prefered" time in prison against being bailed out!

All his behaviour since he was arrested is crazy, here he wants to go to prison Thai.

Who wants to go to Thai prison willingly raise your hand? :clap2:

Were Thailand ever to implement more stringent mental health, criminal background, or social reputation screenings of expats in an effort to prevent future incidents such as this, it would make for a more arduous and expensive visa renewal process for all of us. So it's in our collective self-interest to try to work towards reducing the odds of situations like this occurring.

There  is a deeply entrenched loner culture in Thailand's expat community, and it's almost in vogue for expats to socially shun other expats, all of which contribute to the likelihood of guys like this going off the deep end. If Thailand's expat community made more of an effort to be more socially supportive of one another that would probably help reduce the likelihood of events like this occurring.

There are also too many foreigners over here who think that civility, personability, friendliness, kindness, charitability, etc., is the other guy's responsibility, and who make little effort to socially engage with Thais or to learn the language. Sadly, such attitudes are all too often encouraged and reinforced on social media platforms such as this one. My point is that what people post on ASEANNOW is not separate and detached from the real world. It's all intertwined.

He stated that Straumann had pressed his knee onto his mother’s neck and punched her approximately 20 times, indicating that an attempted murder charge should also be considered.

Hope this POS gets what's coming to him, maybe he is to scared to be outside incase of a revenge beating, hope he end up having to use a walking frame if that happens.

His facial expression and actions of non compliance show he is letting the thunder roll over him, he has lost hope. This action of madness on his part does hint at mental illness or a momentary loss of control due to some traumatic event or news just before the incident. It is unusual that he rejects his embassy or his ex- wife and seems to want to make matters worse for himself, he obviously isn't acting normally, either then or now, he needs a psychiatrist but he will probably reject that as well.

These Thai people, what are we going to do with them? Why can they  be philoxenos and  tolerant like we are towards foreigners in our countries.

Why can't Thais brutally beat helpless old mothers over their shopping carts in our countries the way we do in their country? Let's equalize this behavior.

You have a vivid imagination. Are you one of those who whines and complains about imaginary prejudice and racism against poor white farangs? Well chew on this: In my more than 10 years here the only bad behavior by a******s that I’ve ever seen is by foreigners, so if the shoe fits you deseve to wear them. If you keep your nose clean you have nothing to fear from Thailand. They certainly aren’t out to fabricate offenses or persecute westerners. If all this is too much to bear perhaps you should go back where you came from and resume your complaining. Nobody wants to hear from chronic complainers with nothing better to do. Just go away and solve everyone’s problems.

This guy must be a complete idiot ,would rather stay in jail ,than to be

My mind asked the question whether he might be thinking he would be safer in jail than risk Thai citizen retribution by vigilante action?

If he has managed to stay out of trouble for so long before this sudden burst of violence and illogical behavior, I suspect that something may be happening to him psychologically.  Dementia, Alzheimer's, perhaps even a mini-stroke changing how his brain is wired.

Tooth ache medication is what he blamed it on, now who was the member looking for dentists here?

This man is a violent nut-case. He belongs in a home which cares for such people, preferably in his own country.

He belongs in a padded cell, wearing a straight jacket.
