Filming oneself while working

Featured Replies

This morning I was sitting at Trang airport and noticed a funny scene.

You know, the Trang airport is basically one big room. As I was sitting there waiting for the check in to open, I noticed two policemen walking by, suddenly they stop, say something to each other and while one pulls out his smartphone and starts filming, the other walks up to a couple of old westerners foreign tourists who were standing there and starts talking to them, probably pretending to give them useful information, while his colleague films the scene.

I have seen this scene before: cleaning staff, sales personnel in malls, etc.

But the scene with the policemen was very funny.

No picture, it never happened. And I guess it's the same with videos.

I see that all the time with the repair guys in our building. And then later there are pictures on the information wall what they did.

If they actually work and the pictures or videos are a minor addition, then I don't mind.

But for some people it seems the picture and videos are the important part, not the work.

I saw recently a video where someone filmed some influencers on the beach who filmed each other picking up trash into trash bags. And when the photo session was over, they left that trash bag on the beach where they made that last picture. Sad.

I noticed that a positive public image is very important in Thailand. So, Is this 'habit' emerged only with the social media sharing 'culture' or are there already similar forms in the past?
