No.

Bard is mistaken.

Bard thinks that I am describing the Jackfruit Tree.

Actually, not.

I am thinking of a giant tree with fruit that falls to earth, and goes plop, plop, plop, for about three or four weeks.

Anyone know what this noisy tree might be?

Bard is not right!

I had a nice jackfruit tree, good producer of fruit, till it decided to fall over.   I did my very professional tree surgery on it, with my ... circular saw :coffee1:

Then had to go ol' school on it

I think you might be hearing rubber trees dropping nuts, and not fruit trees. Hear them every time I step outside for a part of the year.

Could it be a CATON (not sure of spelling) tree?  Had a very large one in my yard some years back.  When ready, 100's of CATON would fall every night.  They often broke open from the fall and by early morning would be covered by red ants.  Very messy and a daily chore to clean them up and dispose of the fruit.

The fruit is orange.

They fall break open and make a mess that is not easy to clean.

The broken fruit results in quite a thick layer.

The fruit will drop during about a two week period.

Large trees can drop a LOT of fruit.
