Transfer = Guilty!

Rubbish. Two sides here maybe, those who think he’s corrupt and those who think he’s too straight for his own good. Laugh if you like, I’m the latter in believing he has upset a few people , as he did the last time he was transferred to PMs office. He is also not stupid.

Big joke really cleaned up chiangmai immigration and 90 day reports , he made it much better for retired farangs living there, no longer having to get there at 6.00 in the morning  and still wait all day...

He is capable of very good things

He also got rid of the tip-jars in Immigration.

So are we to assume that they will be sitting reading papers, playing on their phones etc, or will they actually be working e.g. shuffling paperwork?

I don't think they will be shuffling much paper, I'm  imagining a relaxed day , probably arrive  straight from the golf course around 10 am , review the papers and social media like you said,  squeeze in a bit of "networking" or forge some new alliances , then  an excellent  lunch , and home before 3pm slightly the worse for wear.

Look at them, smiling and laughing, having a good old time.

They'll just wait and let things blow over.....

transferred both National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimon and Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakphan, nicknamed Big Joke, to work at the Prime Minister’s Office

Wow! Is this a demotion or promotion. Seems like being placed in a position working directly with the Prime Ministers office would be considered a promotion. The influence gained by being in that office would be overwhelming. It also seems to be the worst place to put a bad cop caught breaking the laws.

PM gags senior police officers over online gambling conflict

srettha_police.jpg

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin today ordered senior police officers to stop talking or giving news to the media about the BNKMaster online gambling case, in an effort to ease tensions within the police service while the case is being considered by an ad hoc fact-finding committee.

The panel members are Chatchai Promlert, former interior permanent secretary, Chartpong Jiraphan, former deputy attorney-general, and Pol Gen Winai Thongsong, former deputy national police chief.

Before chairing a meeting of the Police Commission today, the prime minister told the media that, since there is a problem in the Royal Thai Police, he must step in.

No explanation of why Torsak was also transferred. There are no charges or allegations against him.  Sounds like something cooked up with Thaksin.  Big Joke was up in Chiang Mai supposedly providing security for Thaksin, Srettha and some cabinet ministers and no doubt a deal was done.  Torsak is pursuing money laundering charges against Big Joke but Torsak has only 6 months to go before retirement. So two months sitting on the bench will derail the charges against Big Joke who will remain eligible for police chief in October and is young enough to hold the job for 6 years.  A percentage of all he makes over 6 years would be a tidy some not to be sneezed at by Thaksin who needs money to rebuild his political brand and hates spending his own money.

back around 2000ish I read an article in the BKK post, that some toll booth collectors and the manager were skimming money from the toll collections. They all were transferred to inactive position, nobody got fired or asserted for theft....just transferred.

How nice steal from the government and dont lose your job, just sit at a desk all day doing nothing...lol

That's because they were shifting some of the money upstairs to protect their future.

Another defamer hits the net. "Likely".

You know nothing about the situation other than what you read in English translation so you hide your ignorance with invective.

How familiar are you with the RTP pyramid scheme? How many people do you know that are officers within the RTP I know a number of.

In my world it's only defamation if it's untrue.

Second time around for Big Joke isn't it. Last time he was in the Immigration Police, stepped on some toes, and was moved there. Then He got promoted to his current position? So, what promotion next then?

Maybe like it´s hard to be on the right side and move up. Just look how it went for Move Forward, who actually won the election.

Thaksin certainly doesn’t need money.

You're simply recycling a trope.

Now, how about National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimon? If the deputy earns 'ridiculous amounts of money', what does his superior 'earn'?

Likely alot more. How many billions? They are anything but straight arrows.

Alleged drug dealers maybe , but we will never know now will we?   Surely you are not in favour of extrajudicial killings by the Thai police or anybody else for that matter ?    I am sure the death of ones son will sit uneasily with parents if he was murdered for selling cannabis, considering those imprisoned for that particular crime were all released when it was decriminalized.  It not like they could be brought back to life is it

You're likely very correct, I think when it comes to Thai law truth is irrelevant, it's more a question of agenda and how powerful the people are that are behind the prosecution, and how powerful the people are who have been offended by those who are being prosecuted.
