Popular Post webfact Posted March 25 Popular Post Share Posted March 25 Thailand’s Transport Ministry says it’s considering new measures to address a raft of complaints about taxis after a huge number of complaints in a 6 month period. According to a Nation Thailand report, the ministry has received over 10,600 complaints from taxi passengers. In response, officials say they plan to introduce measures to improve taxi services to ensure they are “convenient, safe, and reasonably priced”. It’s understood 10,687 complaints received via the Passenger Protection Centre 1584 helpline between October 2023 and February 2024 related to taxis. Especially when it rained and it rains quite a lot. When it rains, they stopped cruising the streets and went static. The only way to get a taxi was to call a number. When you called the number, there was an extra 'booking' charge on the bill. However, you are spot on when you say that something needs to be done. captnhoy Posted March 25 Share Posted March 25 It would be easy and is tempting to make a sarcastic comment. It only took 10,600 complaints to consider there is a problem? There was no indication of a problem previously? But my second thought is that maybe the new administration is making a good faith effort at improving the tourist's experience. Maybe. Wiggy Posted March 25 Share Posted March 25 Does the 1684 number have English speakers available to take complaints? If not, those 10,000+ complaints were likely from Thais only. Go to any part of Bangkok and ask a taxi driver sitting anywhere the cost of taking you to Pattaya and 99% of them will overcharge you. As far as they are concerned you are a tourist and fair game.
