They could have done so, but some of us suspect a reason why they are using October 7 as an excuse to make Gaza uninhabitable.

 

By making so much rubble they actually made it easier for Hamas fighters to operate ( plenty of cover ), and harder for tanks to move.

 

Mind you, it's going to take a bit of work to remove the rubble so the settlers can move in.
