From October to December 2021, Gazprom sent 24 percent less gas to the EU than in the same period in 2020. The uncertainty ahead of winter caused never-before-seen price spikes on EU gas trading markets, going from less than €15 per megawatt-hour (MWh) in January to a year-end record of €180/MWh.

February 24 2022: Russia launches a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, exceeds $100 a barrel for the first time since 2014.

Here, that's missing from the 'story' you copy-pasted:

"According to the European Commission's official gas market reports, in 2021 Gazprom supplied 137 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas via pipeline to EU countries. That's 7 percent more than in 2020."

I wonder what the reason was..., I remember, wasn't there something? Oh, right.

"The fact Russia’s Gazprom has also failed to book additional gas transit capacity via Ukraine to European destinations for October has led some to accuse the Kremlin of manipulating a crisis."

Russia didn't want to continue paying the transit prices to the Ukraine and wanted to get the North Stream 2 actually going to deliver even more than ever before.

The point of this discussion is about how Putins invasion of Ukraine caused oil prices to spike. Which they did, going over $100 a barrel after the invasion.

My comments about russia driving up energy prices before the invasion, though a only side note, are also true since the price of gas went up from less than €15 per megawatt-hour (MWh) in January 2021 to a year-end record of €180/MWh. Gazprom was the seller of this gas, thus they decided how much to charge for it.. Everything else are technicalities, and irrelevant for the point of this discussion..

That the Keystone XL pipeline was cancelled, and the Nord Stream 2 project sanctioned by the US (both in 2021) did not help anything.

Yep, the US - especially the exile Russians - hated that Germany is a partner with Russia.

"Nord Stream 2, seen as vital by the Kremlin, is expected to double natural gas supplies from Russia to Germany."

The reason is first and foremost that Germany cancelled 11 coal plants and all remaining nuclear power plants right before the winter in 2021/22 which lead to exactly that, that Germany had to import more gas and prices skyrocketing.

So you seriously claim that the oil prices going above a 100 after russias invasion of Ukraine was because of Germany cancelling their coal and nuclear plants?

Why did you move the discussion now from 2021 about electricity to after the start of the special military operation and oil prices?

You seem to be lost in your beliefs that the US are the good guys which they are not and insult other people for calling you out. Maybe calm down a bit?

The US are guilty of plenty of bad things over the years, Vietnam, South America, Iraq.. But not Putins genocide in Ukraine, even though russian propaganda tries to pin that too on the US...

there would be a lot less dead had Boris Johnstone not scuppered the peace talks that were offered in April 2022.... blood is on the UK hands!!

Even more nonsensically, you assume that I am "lost in my beliefs that the US are the good guys"

I have never said that. So maybe you should calm down, and stop making up your own 'facts'..

If you are truly German, then you should stop being an apologist for Putins crimes and aggression, and instead start worrying about European values, security, freedom and independence which are under severe threat from Putins Russia.

Wow, I can't even grasps how arrogant and delusional some people are. European values? Like total censorship and homosexual rights? Yeah, that's definitely the core of European values. Thank you Russia for being a counter balance against the most perfidious power system.

So, now that you've lost the discussion, you turn to petty insults and abuse..

I have no time for a depraved russian troll.. Go join putins murderers and rapists in the trenches of occupied Ukraine...

Seem to spend a good part of their day thinking about him. Why is that?  On the big picture, who has an obsessive mental problem? Get a life.

If your guy is Trump, then your argument makes no sense at all. Trump frequently confuses Biden with Obama, and on one occasion even claimed that he was going to run against Obama in the upcoming election. He has also confused Jeb Bush with his brother George on occasions. And among several other confused claims he also stated that Orban was the prime minister of Turkey. On his campaign trail he is often confused about which state or town he's in. When it comes to competence, we can only look at Trumps criminal mismanagement of Covid, leading to hundred of thousands of unessecary deaths (chlorine anyone..?). Also him storing state secrets in his bathroom at Mar a Lago, does not speak well of his competence nor his judgement. And this is before we talk about him being a convicted fraud and sexual molester.. The US may deserve a younger and more energetic president than Biden, but in no conceivable way is an equally old and more confused Trump a better alternative.

With all that garbage it sounds you're more obsessed with Trumo than any MAGA hatter.

He may be 6'3", but he is likely closer to 309 lbs.

Not a fan at all.

17 of his businesses have failed in the past few decades. Some at huge losses. Trump Steaks, Trump Shuttle Airline ($120 million in losses between 1988 and 1990), GoTrump, Trump Vodka, Trump Mortgage, Trump University, Trump Ice, The New Jersey Generals, Tour de Trump, Trump Network, Trump Magazine, Trumped!. Many businesses that licensed his name went bankrupt, or went out of business. And he had between four and six major bankruptcies (depending on the source), including the Trump Taj Mahal (which he spent $1.2 billion building, and was $3 billion in debt within a year of opening), Trump's Castle, Trump Place Hotel (which was very successful prior to Trump buying it in 1988, and he managed to put it into $550 million in debt by 1992!), Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts ($1.8 billion in debt by 2004, bankrupt in 2009) , and Trump Entertainment Resorts.

There are likely others. And this does not take into account the 3,600 lawsuits he was involved in as of the time he took office, the vast majority of which were filed by small contractors against his companies for non payment, or total default. Many of these contractors were crushed. It is part of his M.O.

Nearly anything with his name on it, and his association with it, fails. And that will be even more so, after he loses the November 3rd election. His name will remain radioactive, the the rest of his life, and the mini empire will continue to dwindle. During the period from 1985 to 1989, three years of which were boom year in NY real estate, he somehow managed to lose $359 million. Between 1990 and 1991 he lost $517 million. And between 1992 and 1995 he again managed to lose $286 million.

The real irony of his whole persona, is that he cannot negotiate his way out of a paper bag, much less negotiate a treaty with an adversary, which makes him very dangerous.

Lots of numbers there but no linked proof.

Without making predictions, I look on Ms. Harris a bit like Harry Truman. Nobody in 1944 Democratic hierarchy liked the current VP and, just looking at FDR, everyone knew he was on his last legs. Truman turned out to be the guy  everyone disliked the least.

And Truman just ranked #7 on the Siena list of greatest Presidents.

SIena list 🤣

Extending a daily uptic accumulated with most recent lead as noted with racetothewh.com I agree that polls are irrelevant this far out. More important is the fundraising.

Polling in Tibet?
