webfact
Thailand is committed to remaining neutral concerning, what is in effect, a civil war in Myanmar, and will help as required restore peace in the country, said Thai Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara today. “We wish to see an end to the conflict and all conflicting parties start negotiations. Thailand, as a close neighbour, has previously shouldered the impacts of the domestic problems of Myanmar,” he said. Parnpree was speaking at a press conference after attending a special meeting, hosted by the prime minister, following the seizure of Myawaddy township by rebel forces/ Based on past experience, he said an influx of displaced people is expected to seek shelter on Thai soil. The maximum number of immigrants Thailand can accommodate is 100,000. If the number exceeds that, Thailand will seek assistance from the international community, he said. Popular Post ikke1959
Thailand has shown already several times not to be neutral but in favor of the junta of Myanmar... refugees are sending back, help as we could read last week, providing arms to the junta etc...friends for friends 2 1 1
Popular Post spidermike007
Being neutral against the neighboring genocidal junta, is tantamount to being in favor of that junta. It is an admission of utter cowardice, and an extreme lack of moral conviction in the face of rot, corruption, rape, pillaging, and a massive stink on the western side of the border. Thailand remains a massive coward and any administration that's connected to the army will always be morally bankrupt, it is just the nature of the pathetic Thai Army. mfd101
Governments have to deal with other governments. When the earth begins to move in a neighbouring country, then you have to prepare to shift ground yourself, but you don't want to make a premature, possibly bad judgment about the likely outcome next door. So you shuffle around and try to minimize the overflow. All perfectly normal behaviours everywhere in the world.

Popular Post klauskunkel
Quote Thailand maintains neutral stand over conflict in Myanmar That's not a neutral stand: Mae Sot town, Myanmar authorities used a chartered plane to fly things, believed to be cash, plus officials from Mae Sot airport to Yangon with Thai government’s permission that's aiding and abetting tyranny 1
Sydebolle
Neutral - my foot. Throw those illegal immigrants into the slammer in Mae Sot, impound the aircraft and treat those brothers-in-arms like any other illegal immigration ......... Naahhhh, this is Thailand, so just forget about what I wrote - I am completely off the page on this subject as well 😉
Tropicalevo
Liar, liar pants on fire! Neutral is not when you help the military generals to move their illegal money through a Thai airport yet you stop and arrest Burmese citizens when bringing two drones into Burma. 1

rudi49jr
Yeah right, Thailand is neutral. Don’t make me laugh. The Thai military is awfully chummy with the Tatmadaw and the leaders of the illegal military regime, and Thai businesses are doing business like gangbusters with that regime. It’s all about money, money, money.
