Unidentified Bird's Egg: What species of bird did this egg come from?
Dear Folks, One of the pleasures of living in Northern Thailand is witnessing the varied species of exotic birds one can see and hear. I love birds. Always have. Sometimes, a bird will fall from its nest, and this is tragic. And, at other times, a bird’s egg will fall from the nest, but still remain intact. I just momentarily came across this SPECKLED bird’s egg, a photo of which I have posted here. Surprisingly, this egg is still in one piece after its fall. I discovered this SPECKLED egg earlier this evening. If only I had an incubator, I could keep this egg warm enough so that it might hatch. And then, it might be easier to identify which bird laid this egg. Since I have no incubator in my home, can someone please help me to identify it, just by way of their own expertise in the field of ornithology? Sometimes, the local cats will attack bird nests and eggs will drop to the ground. My guess is that this is what happened, THIS time… Also, I suggest that all cat owners attach bells to their cats so that birds will less easily fall prey to house cats. So then… What is your guess? Which species of bird laid this egg, would you imagine? Thanking you in advance…. Best regards, Gamma Note: When I was in school, many years ago, I most enjoyed our classes concerning biological reproduction. Maybe you did, too? -

California wants to release a killer after serving 1/3 of his sentence.
“You have two young, unbelievable future, productive American citizens killed for nothing and that illegal immigrant who already has been deported twice is going to be released again?” the furious father told the outlet. “For what? If even he is deported he will come back.” Another Sanctuary heaven in California for illegal migrant criminals . California has no obligation to detain anyone for Ice agents. https://nypost.com/2025/04/23/us-news/illegal-immigrant-who-killed-young-couple-while-driving-drunk-could-be-set-free-after-serving-just-a-third-of-10-year-sentence/ The story is based on a NYP report -

Opinion Russian Teacher to Thais: Drop ‘Farang’ if 'Ni Hao' Offends
Not really. Spend time in a village, you'll see! They call random old guys in the village "father," old women are called "mother," middle-aged guys are called "uncle," and so on..........they are not actually related. Even I was called uncle in the village sometimes. Farang too, of course. Also, teacher. And, father as well........but never by my name. Haha Or they just call each other "pee" or "nong" by age/status. Or "buk" for naughty boys and pet dogs. It's similar in Indonesia, too. They call each other brother and sister, father and mother etc. etc. depending on their age/status in the community. They even say it to strangers. It's actually about respect/duty to call someone by their status in community, rather than name. It would be disrespectful to call your own parents by their first name, right? It's the same in a collective society. Not saying that farang is a respectful word though.
