Looks great, I'll pop in through the week. 👍

Its not on their burger menu.

I asked them to add fried egg/beetroot/pineapple to their bacon burger which they were happy to do.

Absolutely no need for that, I'll say.

It's a tiny burger, padded out with some veg and stuff and you've been charged 1/2 lb price. You were done.

Funny that the OP wants a specialist fish & chip shop but dismisses Sharples that advertises itself as a traditional UK fish & chip shop that only does that 😆

You could try the international hotels websites in case any of them serve fish and chips on a particular day.  Obviously more expensive if there is, but I reckon they'd make a better job of it than the regular outlets in Patts/Jomtien.

Also, a traditional UK fish and chip shop will have salt (sometimes pepper) and vinegar on the counter as free condiments. Tomato/brown sauce, mushy peas, curry sauce etc., are extra. Other side orders can include pickled eggs (truly evil), pickled onions (very nice), fish cakes, sausages, saveloys and pies.

A UK fish and chip shop will also serve a range of fish and not just cod (including fish roe - again, truly evil stuff). My Thai wife loves rock (cue the jokes) and invariably opts for rock over cod, but we don't have it too often because it's so expensive now.

You missed off puddings.

Sorry to barge in, but with all the boozing, fish-n chipping, bad food aroung,  you guys should check out your cholesterol LDL mainly,  now and then at the hospital. Just a friendly suggestion.

How would you eat that monster?

Yes, it will be a challenge.

I'll skip breakfast, sit down for lunch and just a light dinner before bed.

I count myself as a northerner and we always called them scallops.....seem to recall the chippy called them turnovers.

Since when are vegan made chips traditional UK style? AFAIK you can not choose, everybody is forced to take them if he orders them at Sharples. Together with a very bland batter. Been there (actually 3 times, just to make really sure it was not just a bad day) eat it, never to return.

I seen a Sharples at Jomtien,no one is in there everytime I walk past

Are you saying all the hot  chips are vegan ?

What does that actually mean

I must pop in there today or tonight to check it out I guess

Potatos are vegan for a start. But if they deep fry it in vegetable oil, that will make them vegan chips. Real (good) chips however are made with beef tallow imho. World of difference in taste. Most places will use vegetable Oil for chips. But you have to use a fryer for the chips only. No mixing with fish or other not vegan ingrediants.  But if you are vegan, you may ask before ordering. Just to be sure.

Proper  Fish and Chips is made with COLD WATER fish from the Atlantic or in the case of the USA, the Great Lakes. There is NO PROPER FRIED FISH outside the Northern Hemisphere, except maybe down in OZ.

I dont eat fish from the Sap because I have seen people having a large satisfying dump in the water.

It's only 8am and I feel like fish n chips today

May I ask is there any place that sells the potato scallops?

Similar to the Aussie type

I went to a wonderful place yesterday called Tinnies pies that sold wonderful pies but the impeccable service and cleanliness of the place was what I describe in my wonderful words of wisdom as .... beautiful.

But I'm after a genuine if I may use that word...in fact the word "specialist" ....or maybe another word to describe  a place who only sells fish n chips

I did see Sharples in Jomtien yesterday,it didn't appear to have any customers

Many if you recall in your fine years far far long ago we had Simon's , we had the Jolly ..Roger ? Fryer?

What happened to the British fish and chip shop?

Where is Tinnies, too lazy to Google it.

I had an outstanding fish n chip at the Sportsmans bar soi 13 off beach road if I remember correctly.

Murphy's on the Darkside does a great cod (2 pieces) and chips, plus one of the best apple crumbles and icecream I've ever had.

Well now I've heard everything. Someone doesn't want vegan chips...as if there are any potatoes not considered vegan 😉

I responded to the post you quoted so no, I didn't read anymore more of your posts. It still doesn't make sense as you say it's vegan because it's potatoes cooked in vegetable oil, which you then say "most places will use vegetable oil for chips" so by that most places have vegan chips?

I have no idea why vegan Chips is even a term. Do we also have vegan peas to go with the fish & chips 😀

I had a look but thought it was too expensive compared to others (was more like Aussie prices than Pattaya). Here's an example, even their "Friday Special" is 300 baht (and pic doesn't look great)
