Three Thai Beaches Make it to the World's Top 100 List

Won't stay clean for long, now that western media has spread the news all over...But only 3 out of the hundreds of beaches in Thailand clearly states that if you are a beach lover, far better off in south of France or Italy and of course Mallorca, Ibiza, Tenerife etc...Never understood people comming to Thailand for the beaches. Come for the girls, food, what ever ok but the beaches ?

Thai beaches were wonderful last century, but been destroyed since.

I've been on many Thai beaches better than Maya Bay. As for saying Railay- there are 3 beaches on Railay, and none of them that great. One is nice, and is the one featured in many ads, but it's not as good as some I've been on. Perhaps that's a good thing else they suffer the same fate as Maya Bay which has been destroyed by the hordes.

When they include parties in the judging one knows they have their heads where the sun don't shine. Had Rin would have been one of the top 5 till it became a party beach and now it's awful.

Maya Bay is either closed or overcrowded, depending on the time of the year. From a practical point of view, a more relaxed beach that you can just walk to from your accommodation at any time is much better, even if it lacks the stunning beauty.

Surprised Da Nang and Hoi Ann beaches are not mentioned.  I heard they were recently ranked #3 and #2 respectively by some other publication, and deservedly so imo.

Da Nang is mentioned, number 52.

"Powered by ChatGPT" according tothe website's home page.

Also, the 100 beaches list on the actual website doesn't include Pattaya. The three Thai entries are Railay, Phra Nang and Pileh Bay, all in Krabi. Pattaya comes in a separate article, "Golden Beach Award 2024".

AI travel journalism. Not to be taken seriously anywhere.

It ranked high in categories like 'Party and Lifestyle', 'Community', and 'Cultural Significance', turning the seaside city into an exciting destination for both day and night activities.

All this has absolutely nothing to do with the beach.

You might just as well include walking street in the list if "party and lifestyle" are the measure of how good the sand is.

a UK-based startup focusing on beach information

What a great idea.

How many researchers did they hire to travel to all the beaches around the word?

What's the business model?

Is this a fairytale book from the Thai government.

I have never heard such nonsense in my life. The author of this article has never been to Pattaya. Who wants to swim between diesel boats?

Maya bay is because of the movie. It's beautiful of course but with the number of day trippers hardly worth a visit anymore.

You don’t use partying as a metric to rank beaches….

pattaya doesn’t even have fine white sand and zero scenic views…

this criteria discredits this specific ranking

These Brits don't go get out very much next time they'll be saying Grimsbys in the top 10. Why not Brighton Beach. They might even say the ponds in Hampstead are number one.

Grimsby does not have a beach, Cleethorpes has.

Get your fact checker out matey

indeed. Amusingly, few here seemed to have noticed, despite the home page tagline "Powered by ChatGPT."

Lots of beautiful beaches in Vietnam

IMG_5139_polarr.jpeg

far cleaner beaches in Vietnam compared to Thailand and the Vietnamese are far more friendly with foreigners then Thailand. Just look at how they fuss on the LTR visa for instance and how the bureaucracy will make you run all over to get the right wordings on documents like the health insurance for exemple. All this is just a scam to force people to purchase insurance plans in Thailand. Not worth it for sure. Spend your retirement money in Vietnam instead.

At that rate it is not going to stay nice for much longer.

Always the problem: mass tourism ruins everything it touches. As do media articles about " undiscovered" wonders: the kiss of death because then we all put them on our bucket lists.

No doubt as with Railay beach, Krabi too many boats too willing for the money to ferry the world and his wife and kids there and back.

My favourite beach is in Cornwall, south of Penzance. Accessible only on foot and a steep narrow path down, leaving your car some distance away. No services of any kind on the beach so you have to carry whatever you will need. Cut off either side of high tide. Never  been any boat service to get there either. Been like that for a lot longer than the the last 40 years since I discovered it. Of course the British weather can be a downer! And the water is cold.

It's certainly a rumble - bumble review of famous or something like this beaches...not beauty or tranquility... Waikiki with his mass tourists; beaches with 5000 and more daily visitors, and last not least the infamous Pattaya beach with his polluted water... really?
